My bit of detailing (awaits bashing)

Car  C63 AMG, F430 & 172
before the car goes back to angel works i decided to sort (have a go) at fixing the shocking state of the paint,

whilst buiding the car for the last year the paint was coverd in dust and allsorts. so when i wiped out the mop and bucket.... it was a swirl city!

process was..

  • Polish car wash
  • Megs clay and quick detailer
  • 2 passes with a orange county (i think) pad on the pc with menz power gloss!
  • two passes with a SFX yellow pad with menz PO91L (i think thats the code)
  • 3 passes on a white SFX pad with P058 RD (love this stuff) worked that to a finish!
  • 2 coats of menz final touch on a blue pad (not sure if thats right)
some shots, it was really hard to get soem decent pics. i only did one rear quarter and one quater of the roof..

from inspection with a LED light, i got rid of all the swirls and marks!

that line you see on each "after pic" is the stainles lip on the lense reflecting.

what you think?

looks alot better,

im so glad my car is silver tho lol

not been following the progress of this at all really, whats its going to to ben for now? yet more toys?

4 inch pads should allow you to do the front valence, a lot looks like it will need to be done by hand.

Do what you can be bothered on the bumper by hand using a filler heavy polish

As per your other post, SRP & EGP should mask any remaining defects which have not polished out

Front bumper will be pebble dash'd after your 1st off anyway lol

Car looks loads better btw

A further 4 hours last night,

managed to get 70% of the door, wing and n/s front section of the roof done.

same process as in the OP

soem shots of the shocking paintwork before, it was hard to get any decent pics, i have no light pen and no tripod!

roof!

then used the megs clay to remove the shizzle..

IMG_2757.webp

this was just off a tiny bit of the roof!

IMG_2758.webp

after the clay!

IMG_2759.webp

then the 2 passes with powergloss on a lake county orange pad, i had to use a quick spray of detailer as it was drying out too fast!

IMG_2762.webp

after one pass of powergloss

IMG_2765.webp

two passes , seemed to remove 90% of the RIDS and swirls..but a bit "dull"

IMG_2766.webp

IMG_2769.webp

then two passes with the p091L on a yellow pad

after the first pass (getting there!)

second pass,

I am now confident that all (as far as i can see) of the swirls and RIDS have been removed! just needed the po58rd to bring it too life!

None of the "front on" shots of the 58rd came out too good, i will get some more tonight!

but here are a few shine shots! the paint it starting to look awsome!

sorry about the shaky shots! need a tripod!

i ordered some svissvax onix (i think) yesterday

and some supernatural too! hopefully the wax should bring a deep gloss to the paint!

going to nip to frauds on the way home to get some SRP and EGP too go over the 58rd!

You have actually done a good job for once ;)... You best do a good job on the 197 lol.

It does look awesome in the flesh :)

Crackin work! Defo didn't have you down as the detailing type!

I’m pretty slow at it, I don’t think it’s hard to do at this level. just processes and common sense.

its expensive though, :dapprove:

The gloss is mostly created in the polishing stage - the wax will add very little in appearance.
