My Cup, absolutely flying today

Bit of an odd one this. Even though my Cup (18 months old, 10k) is perfectly fine on a daily basis today something strange happened.

I headed off for Castle Combe around 8:30am, roads were fantastically empty so I hammered it all the way after the car had warmed up. Nothing unusual really, everything seemed fine. Fast forward to 5pm, left the car park to come home and the car felt fantastic, smooth as anything, acceleration felt quicker and overall it just felt much more responsive and easily the quickest its been since I got it.

Any ideas why this should be? I usually head off for work at a similar time Mon-Fri but the roads are so busy Im lucky to see the fun side of 3000rpm, when I come home after work its fine but takes a little while to really get going. Could hammering it this morning really have helped that much? I know the Cup thrives on revs but I was suprised that giving it some really loosened it up that much.

If this is the case I think people should ignore Cups for sale that have been "not driven hard", much better to get a loose one!

The tesco rocket fuel helps too

I know what you mean. Some days it feels a little sluggish and others, it just flies. Interesting point about the cat build-up - never thought of that one...

Has this trial expanded yet? Cant believe they never did it at my local Tesco, firstly its one of the best performing Tescos in the country, and secondly we dont have a Shell garage for 25 miles in any direction, so no Optimax for all the rich people in sports cars around here.

I did notice about 30 minutes into my morning journey when I pulled over to post a letter that the exhaust was having a little cough (nothing loud or obvious, just noticed when I walked past the back of it), it was pretty much from then on that it was really going some. I had filled up with Ultimate (as I always do) that morning as well so I was on a full tank.

Sainsburys have 97ron fuel in most of the petrol stations for less than std 95ron in most other places. I try to use it as much as possible, given the price.

after mine did a good few laps round the ring, it sounded twice as loud on the way home ,thats with it bouncing of the limiter for 9 and a half minutes, does it good I think.

the heat makes a huge difference, my sits baking in the sun outside work and is sluggish as fcuk at first till the air starts to circulate - could make a difference to yours...

Agree with this! ^^^

Excellent news on Sainsburys, dont like paying 95p for Ultimate! I dont even have a Sainsburys local though, not as far away as the nearest Shell thankfully.

Me too. Local Sainsburys is only a penny more for Super and well worth it. Use your own additives like Forte every 6k so why use Optimax !!!!

Mine seems faster one its had a bit of a ragging, even our lass guessed id been driving her hard once when she had a go after me!! Optimax all the way!!
