My day with the Burpspeed crew at Brands (pic heavy)

Jay and Tony kindly accepted my offer to join the team for the day in the absence of Mr Freeman, so up I got at 5am yesterday for the trek to Brands. On arrival the Burpspeed Hospitality Suite was all ready in full swing, so fuelled by a bacon roll I got to work...

A short Qualifying session broken up by an incident meant there wasn't much action. I no longer have the kit for full-on motorsport work so made the best of what I had (200mm prime on a Full Frame camera, hard work!), wasn't too bad though...

Battle wounds...

IMG9118a-L.jpg

Overall a fantastic day, got home at 10pm absolutely shattered but had to bore the wife telling her all about it!

A few of the 172 Cup and 182 also racing in the Tin Tops (I'm sure most people are well aware of these from the Projects section)

Cracking shots mate :) shame I didn't get time to say hello, I only popped over occasionally.

Awesome photos. The battle wounds look like you got off lightly considering how many cars were there, I always think its impressive how people manage not to crash into each other when its that competitive.

We 3rd overall and 2nd in class behind the Integra which was driven by Mike Jordon, ex BTCC driver. So not bad I'd say.

Cracking pics!
Shame I couldn't make it but I'm working here in Morocco at the moment. Always like taking photos at Brands, great track for it.

I was disappointed with the angles available compared to my last visit (4 or 5 years ago), pretty much only the inside of Druids unfenced (and even half of that now has catch fencing), but I guess with a longer focal length there are a few more spots where you can shoot over/through fences quite easily. Surtees used to be amazing with a short lens, but that is fenced now.

On the plus side, it's nice and compact which made running from the paddock to the circuit nice and easy. I'm glad Combe is my local circuit though, still the easiest / most relaxing place to shoot imo.

The next race at Silverstone is a nightmare too. Can't get anywhere near the track most places, and it miles to get from the pits to the best spots I found last year, even if they're still there this year!

Some of your pictures Chris of the Porsche RZR look like I was stood next to you. I had the Gulf colours baseball cap on. Any lovely pictures btw.
