My rolling road results

Went to a rolling road day this Saturday gone at Surrey Rolling Road..

The 172 (Standard, done 44k) made 161.8bhp ATF, 133.6bhp ATW.

I've got no scanner at home (will have to take my graphs to work with me..) so I've done a bit of a ghetto scan using a digi cam :p

Now to find out where the 11bhp went :p (Reworked manifold and a remap methinks)

Wouldnt worry about the figures tbh, std is claimed 169/170 bhp anyway (ie 172ps) so you'd only be 7bhp down anyway, could simply be down to the RR itself

Another "Ego Buster" Dyno. IMO better than giving a high reading that's totally wrong!

sounds about right for a standard 172 mate.
we had a meet there few weeks back. standard 172's were getting 158-162. 182's was getting high 160's. was impressed with my result for a 172.

wheres the RR in surrey? how much for a run? will be interesting to see what gain you make with the mods if u get it RR'd at the same place.

Paul - any 182 ECU's up for a swap anytime soon...?? :D

Yup, Charlie said a load of you had been down there and mine was pretty spot on.

I trust their dyno, everyone else was getting pretty much spot on results.

Ahh is that Longcross by any chance?
That place is almost mythical....its all hidden by woodland and has a banked oval type test track as well!
Not many people know its there but apparently it used to be used loads back in the 80's and 90's by alot of motoring mags for a proving ground.
Now used for tanks apparently...

That sounds like the place.. the rolling road building used to be used for testing tank armour, the building is clad with 2 inch thick steel plate with bullet holes :p

can i just ask why we buy a renault producing 172bhp as shown in there brochure and it seems not one single 172 actually produces this surely we should be getting onto renault and complain you are buying something that is not try it dioes not state an estimate 172bhp in the brochure...b******s!!!

It's an estimate... I'm fairly sure it has to be within their own tolerances, which is probably +-10bhp :p

I got it done so I could make a start on tinkering.. no point adding bits unless you know what you have to work with ;)

I've got mine booked in a week Sunday at Westec in Newport.

I was going to be happy with a 168bhp+, but I feel that I may be asking to much now.

I'm going with a load of Cupra R Leon's and Ibiza's, so great they will be taking the p*ss even more.

I did a photoshoot there for Autocar and its where McLaren test the SLR's which I blagged a ride in.

Charlie at Surrey Rolling Road is a top bloke and AMD and many other tuning companies use his rollers.

Here's some pics of Longcross:

  Not got a car
Umm No wonder the 172 need alot of work done to take ot near 200bhp

If 172's are kicking out low 160's I think its pretty poor on renault's part.

Renault sold the car as having 172PS which transplantes to about 169hp most cars had abpouit 166 but no real way to prove it and 3hp isn't easy to prove.

as edde says its 169 HP and 182s are 179 HP and mine makes 179Brake according to the rolling road I did but they need to be taken with a pinch of salt.

its more a tool for checking before and after a mod (on the same day ideally) it's a pissing contest otherwise.
