We both love the quietness of the standard exhaust, considering its 40 miles of mainly dual carriageway for her to get to work thats a big deal as she wont want it droning away, and to me it looks quite free flowing by virtue of the fact its obviously only got half as much gas going into each box, and they certainly dont look like they will struggle to flow 100bhp or so each, so im not sure if we will change the exhaust itself, especially as in terms of noise when you put your footdown the RS2 sounds good for that anyway so once that is fitted it will sound sporty with your foot down but epically quiet when on the motorway, to us that is the perfect combination.

Not sure if Les will want to fit new trims on it or not, personally I dont mint the look of the standard one, but as she will be the one cleaning it its up to her really.

It was me who mapped the other one anyway mate, so I will just map this one too.

Plus initially I will be using it with 172 cams not the 197 cams that are in the other one so the map will be different anyway so would be no good swapping the ecu across.

We are going to put the RS2 on this engine and just retime the standard cams to begin with, and then put the other engine in later on (or possibly not, I have some plans I might put into action on this one that I have wanted to do for a while which will need it on aftermarket, but thats a long way off if it happens)

Next year mate. Going to carry on with the existing one for this year as not really got the time at the moment to swap bits over, plus this way I can hopefully get Lesley to try a little harder as it will be a shell we dont care if we crash, where as on the new one we will both probably be 2/10ths slower as we will actually care if it gets scratched, where as the old one I quite happily touched marker posts and cones with etc, lol.

TBH Ive yet to see an RB that I dont like, but I dont have your sort of professional eye, im sure you would find loads wrong with this one in real life that I simply cant see at all, lol.

Yeah on track I much prefer 15" rims, mainly because of cost and easy of supply of tyres, but also because they do seem to handle slightly better.

Turinis are what Lesley likes as "show wheels" as it were, ie they are just purely a visual thing, no performance benefit to them at all, lol.

RB is a great colour. Sure you'll make that one very desirable with the tidying and spec you'll put into it. I'll go against the grain and say it looks like a bit of a dog ATM (really not a fan of the wheel colour or lack of splitter and the fact you mentioned the timing is out). However with your combined knowledge and contacts I'm sure that will all be rectified in no time

Not sure what we will be in at Llandow but you are welcome to a ride in whatever it is mate.

The shell is tidy but its desperately needs a detail, you're right it's not as it should be yet, the missing splitter lets it down the wheels are tatty and the performance isn't as sharp as it should be and be handling feels horrible at the moment with it not having had the joints and suspension etc refreshed yet.

But yeah hopefully les will get it looking pretty mint by fitting a skoda splitter and the Turinis and polishing it and claying it etc and I will sort all the mechanical stuff.

The last car we bought as a cheap runaround and got carried away with bits for it but the paint was always tatty and the shell itself was rusty in places slightly etc. where as this one we have bought to keep and to make nice from the outset.

its got one bonus too, perfect thumb grips. Can't remember the last set I saw that looked new still. Lol.

First weekend off since buying the new car so i cracked on with cleaning and changing a few things

The whole car was washed, ironx-ed, clayed etc as the paint felt so rough! I started polishing as the paint was full of swirls (see pics) but it was just too hot and i had no shade to do it in so that'll get done another day.

I then cleaned up the Turinis from the black 172 and got them ready to go on the new one, i think it really suits silver wheels! wasn't a fan of the black wheels that came with it really.

Last thing i did was remove the old style renault sport badge and cleaning off all the old glue etc ready for the new style badge

The Black ph2 will get weighed in when we have taken all the bits off it, mechanically its perfect but the shell is tatty.
