My Ultra Red Renaultsport 200.

Not actually sure how I missed this but it looks mint. Perfect spec mate, well in.

Genuine question though, how on earth have Renault managed to achieve worse MPG than I get from the 3.0???? Like seriously, how is that even possible???

I've wondered that.

Have they put some crazy sized fuel injectors in or something?

It's the gearing. The ratios are really, really short and you're always swapping about. It's not exactly over-endowed with torque, either.

It's also not a light car @ 1200kgs.

If I get closer to 30mpg, I'll be happy.

That's mental. Still, it's not like you've got a commute etc to worry about.

It looks proper nice though mate, and you'll finally build up your left arm too ;)

As a unit it's significantly more highly strung too, 100 bhp/litre vs 75 bhp/litre (Z4).

Also throw in the seemingly much larger frontal area, much bigger hole needs to be punched in the air so at motorway cruising speeds economy is woeful.

my 26 gets around 26mpg town driving and around 34 on the carpark aka m62, that mpg is shocking for a n/a lol. Makes you realise how good 172/182's actually are for mpg. I could sit at 80-90 in my old one and easily get over 40!

Really like the look or that and you chose the Perfect spec, just a thought, shouldn't you be taking it easy from new to let the engine 'wear in' or does it not work like that?

I'm now a tad confused, I assumed this was going to be a daily driver but if it's getting infrequent use hence lack of concern about the poor MPG I'd have gone for something a bit less "practical" than a FWD hatch.

This was by far the best package for me. Low running costs (once the novelty of doing 100 miles a day for no reason wears off) and a brilliant drive.

I could've got a lot of other cars but I'm delighted with it. 300 miles in and I might be attached already.

Chris Harris worships them too. Fellow short man approval.

Fair enough, I think I'd have found the lure of rear drive, two seats etc far too tempting in your position.

Nice looking car and spec but the performance to mpg just don't add up...saying can imagine the amount of gear changes required to get it to move with the lack of torque, doesn't help keeping the mpg up.

Straight-line performance doesn't add up when you look at solely my current mpg. But that's not what they're built for.

The performance generally for exceeds the costs. Just read or watch any specialist review of the 200 over the last two years.

I don't see the issue with MPG on these. My 197 Cup with normal mixed driving is doing 35mpg.. Screw it about and it drops to 32. Perfectly reasonable to me.
