I was running low on petrol and was miles away from the nearest 24h station so had to use my debit card at Asda - BIG MISTAKE!!

Car turned sluggish, my exhaust popping went and was not happy!!!

Jus filled up again with some better petrol and all is well!!!!

Asda petrol is w**k!

It was probably because you let it run so low that maybe some rubbish got drawn in from the bottom of the tank!

why do people always say this

CARS HAVE FUEL FILTERS!!

unless its not been changed since new and fallen apart a fuel filter will strain any crap that may or may not be in the bottom of a fuel tank out before it reaches the engine.

my engine was at a quarter - i have read reports of asda not being a very good quality of petrol - i will find it and post!

supermarket petrol is w**k! it is the most basic form of petrol with no addatives and the final stage of refinment left out is it is actualy very poor quality petrol, but is still better than some sh*t in other countries.

I will drive out of my way to find a shell station for optimax thats all my car ever has. and as for runnning the tank right down, ive had my tank removed and flushed out from day 1 on my new 182 and as i only use optimax if i have to run it to the red to get to a shell station then no problem, as the tank is spotless

:D

gotta agree with james 182

i thought it was my imagination.

since using texaco my 172 was sluggish.

i used optimax and car was more responsive - less "jolting"

it might be just me but i think that you get what you pay for and optimax certainly makes a big difference in the way my 172 performes.

i wont ever use supermarket fuel.

I used some of the local cheap fuel places fuel in my Escort ones caused terriable knocking must have been very poor RON fuel.

My mate woked there and swore it was from Texaco or something but I recon it was the poor stuff they made which wasnt good enough to sell at there own petrol stations and this place was buying it cheap.

I use nothing but Tesco petrol, never had any probs with it. They do have additives as well. Bonus that its cheap and I get my Tesco clubcard points as well!!

i go to the cheapest place i pass on a regular basis. its usually a shell but if ive got a 5p off a litre from tesco ill go there.

Same here. I used Texaco once and never again. Car ran very rough, and I spent the whole week stalling . Thought it was just me being crap, but it was a completely different car when i filled up again.

Generally use Shell, but never really noticed much difference on the odd time I use supermarket petrol. Will never use Texaco again though.

I use Optimax, or when its nearer to payday and money running low, I use Sainsburys Super Unleaded, I know its only 97 RON, but its better than the 95 RON for the engine.

i can never tell the diff what i put in my 182, be it co op, asda, BP (normal or untilmate or what ever its called) never tryed texaco or any type of shell stuff, i plan on slapping some optimax in just for my couriosity but i doubt i will notice ayn difference but we shall see

if i drive sensible i get good mpg it i drive like iv just stole it then its crap, car always seems to pull well and run well, persoanly i think unless your driving a supercar type thing then you arnt going to tell much diff and 95% of its all in ya head.. :)
