You have to remember the CTR needs a gear change to get to 60, so 6.8 is very impressive. What were the 0-100 times?
182 - 17.5

Cooper S - 19.9

CTR - 16.9

Focus - 20.8 !

206 GTi 180 - 18.7

Love the avator btw neil!

I must be going senile then!

30-50 - 4.5 secs (3.8 - CTR)

50-70 - 4.4 secs (3.8 - CTR)

Taken from the table on page 76.

Poor ST170 and Cooper S they really cant cut it for straight line grunt can they!

I think focus looks really good and is very good dynamically but it brutally underpowered! Its virtually the same weight as the CTR but Honda have the right idea by compensating the weight by pumping up the power. Surely Ford could have done the same. Ive heard a rummor that Ford will be uping the power of the ST on the new model focus by adding a small turbo - dunno if this is the right idea or maybe they should go for a higher powered N/A unit?

Any thoughts?

think thats the idea with new one! Maybe it would have been too close in a straight line with the RS?

It should have been that or higher neil, the focus rs suspension copes with it so it would of been good and it would,nt of trod on the toes of the rs too much either

Just to set things straight...

Cup:

172bhp / 1021kg = 168.46 bhp/tonne

0-60 = 6.5secs (Evo & Autocar)

0-100 = 17.7secs (Evo), but 16.9secs (Autocar)

172bhp DIN @ 6250rpm

147lb/ft @ 5400rpm

30-50 - 4.3 secs (Evo)

50-70 - 4.1 secs (Evo)

182:

182bhp / 1090kg = 166.97 bhp/tonne

0-60 = 6.6secs (Evo)

0-100 = 17.5secs (Evo)

182bhp DIN @ 6500rpm

147lb/ft @ 5250rpm

30-50 - 4.5 secs (Evo)

50-70 - 4.4 secs (Evo)

Face it, on the road theres gonna be fook all to seperate these two cars...

Yeah, the CTR should have one too IMO...

My mate has an ATR (which has an LSD) and he got an 04 CTR as a courtesy car a couple off weeks ago. He was disgusted at the lack of an LSD!

lol! took me a minute to figure out ATR - Accord Type R - doh!

EVO recon its down to price that it doesnt have one - dunno?

i have a mk2 172 and am/was saving up for a bmw 330i,but after reading the article in evo,,,,maybe wait a year and grab a 182 with cup bits, although i can do without those crap stripes looks like a cheap nova, and im not taken with the dark wheels, can you get the cup bits and normal wheels or is it part of the pack??

  Tappd'd RS

does the 182 with the "cup" options have 17" s with 235!/45 tyres - surely a misprint, I thot it was 205s?

No, they are 205/45 VR16s on either a 182 or 182 with Cup options...

just been on the renault.co.uk clio configurator ,,,not seen those 2 special paints before, yellow one and a really nice dark green/grey colour! v.nice!

  Tappd'd RS

cheers, those anthracite wheels are really growing on me. Nice with the racing blue paint too, although yellow is really nice too as is black/gold - just how did you guys choose! It was easy with the cup - mondial blue or eh ... mondial blue. Civic had to be Cosmic Grey tho!

Not really, as the JDM CTR is cheaper than the UK one and comes with more stuff i.e lsd. Makes you laugh when they are both built in the same factory.
