New and looking for a 182,197

Hi guys
just thought I'd have a look around on the site as I'm looking to buy a day to day toy and get rid of my diesel
(don't know why coz it runs on fresh air!!) lol
and iv found this site to be full of nice cars and full of great info,
was just wondering if anyone can give me a bit of adv I'm looking at two 182 just now
one of that I really like just trying to sort out a deal that would suit us both
or do I go for a 197???
I know the price etc are going to be different but that's not a factor what about the cars are the 182 just as good
As 197 and worth the extra cash
I'm not looking for silly power Been there done that I just like the look of both and wonder what you guys think

I'd stick to the 182 personally having been in both but it depends what you want.

Imo the 197 is more refined, but you'll suffer MPG and potential gearbox issues, plus it's heavier.

Hi guys thanks for the replies
yea iv heard a lot of stories about the gearboxes failing on 197s
197s start as little as 4.5k but I'd I'm not wanting to go to the top end money 7/8k unless it's one I really like as it's just a wee car to play about with.
iv seen two 182 inferno red ones but would love a ly one but very few about or even a blue one
so I will keep a look out to see what else I find.

Love my 197, it's a bit heavier than the 182 but once it gets going, there's no stopping it.

I won't lie though, I got excited the other day when I noticed my average MPG had got to 24!! It's back down to 23.9 now though!

I had a 2007 range rover vogue 3 years ago with an overfinch engine conversion 4.2 v8 supercharged sounded fantastic.....
But was getting mid 12s on a good day lol
didnt keep that long!!!!
so anything over 20 and I'm happy lol

Have a drive of both mate - see what you prefer?

197 all day for me, but I know a lot of people prefer 182's! Only you can make the decision.

That's it iv never driven either so I'm counting on you guys to help
the 197 looks good...fat and low
but the 182 looks more hard core lol
thats what makes it look so good I think
iv been looking about to see what's near where I stay so I can even get a look around one or the other but there's nothing
even though I live 5 min from a Renault garage
