New battery flat after a week!!

Fitted a new battery last sunday, halfords heavy duty one, due to all sorts of lights coming on dash and resetting trip. Been ok for a week then this morning trip reset, got 10 miles to fcs and tcs, serv and abs lights came on when i put my foot on brake. Stopped and put foot on brake again, this time battery light came on too!! Turned round and came home. Got home stopped engine and tried starting but was totally dead! seriously fed up with this car as it seems like a problematic model. Rear shocks leaking, exhaust rotted off, creaking from front and now electrical issues!! Hoping for my sake that its just a dodgy battery but i doubt it! Anyone else had this problem? Any help appreciated as at the minute its more unreliablr than our old landrover and the 5 turbo!!!:dapprove:

Sounds like your problem last week, the one that made you put a new battery in, wasn't that the old battery had carked it, it was just flat. And now the new one's flat too.

Battery dosent look like its holding charge thus like Lurk said, points to your alternator.

Bob down to any garage. Should only take 2mins to confirm if its working correct

lol. Could be the alternator, or as i said some slight short, or say even the boot light stuck on. There are some reasonably easy checks to do, but you will need a digital muliti meter, with dc voltage, and amp measurements.

Sorted! Checked alternator, no output! Old battery failed midtronics test so was due for changing. Alternator is now off and awaiting repair. These cars are fun! :approve:

Dont suppose anyone wants to sell me an exhaust system do they?
