New car decisions

  320d

Can’t decide what to do in November when my valver will have a new MOT. I was planning on selling but can’t decide for sure. I really fancy a new project, heres my current thinking. Any other sensible options welcome. Total budget is about £13,000 without finance so the Type R is pushing it a bit. I do about 40 miles a day in busy traffic getting to work and back so mpg is a slight concern:

1. Civic Type R approx 1 year old. Black, Exhaust, induction kit, window tints.

Approx total £16,500

2. Mark 2 172 pre facelift. Black, Lower 60mm springs until I save for coilovers, 17 inch antricite superleggras, big brakes, LAD conversion, possible roll cage. Approx total £12,000

3. Keep valver. Buy coilovers, big brake conversion, Williams conversion. Approx total £4000

how about buying a real williams. will hold its value better too. personally though id get a 328i (upto S reg) and pocket the change. Its also faster than the above mentioned, looks nicer (IMO) and has more buttons n sh*t to play with.

Dont get a Type R, had a black one, didint like it, had it for 6 months and got bored. Too heavy, tear up tyres and theyre sh*t on the front end. Oh and they drink the juice if you hood them or keep them in the I-TEC.

The Hydrilic lifters are a nightmare. I went from a Type R to a Subaru WRX M reg, then decided that i was sick of fueling it up and got a clio, never looked back. Lush interior, Air Con, Climate Control, ABS, Cute, Girls love em, Can do loads to them. Nice looking and you can throw them about. Even more so with a nice drop.

What about a Integra Type R, my mates had one for four years and loves it, its the longest hes had a car normally changes every six months.

I was in a similar situation to you. I sold my 16V last autumn and mulled over my car choices for a good month or two while cycling and taking the train to work.

At the time, I had decided that I needed something to rack up all my commuting to work (40 miles a day) and all the extra trips, visits and so on. But going to work by train and cycling (especially in the good weather) got me fit again and made me think that I could buy a "less reliable" car instead.

So, I saved the extra £5,000+ I was going to spend on something like a 172 and bought a Williams instead! Its working out fairly well at the moment - I cycle/train to work when its not raining and keep the mileage right down on the car. It also means that I could get the car of my (teenage) dreams and not wreck it with all the commuting! It gives you a whole new perspective when youre only driving for pleasure! :D

Saves me £££ as well  Even when I do drive the commute, youd be surprised at how fuel efficient even a 2.0 pocket rocket can be if youre gentle with it.
