I'm going to ask Tom or Dan if we can have a ban hammer everytime people talk about detailing, when meaning they wash their car.
A detail on a car, or a car part, or area, is the full works. Simple. It is costly for a reason - it takes the car back to factory condition, in fact better than factory condition.
If you have bought a new car, come into the detailing section and ask for help, as Sargara has quite rightly done, people will tell you what to use and what to do/how to apply yada yada.
Sargara - the simple fact is EGP is a perfectly good product. As is SRP. As is Megs Goldclass Shampoo. The simple fact is they are products for the masses that a lot of pros still use. They are targeted at you - you being the person that doesn't take his car to a car wash, but doesn't spend £500 a month on detailing products. There is nothing wrong with this in the slightest. But people (Galster, Richy, myself) will suggest other products. But these cost more, because they are better (whether it be how long a wax lasts, how good it looks, how well it polishes, removes grime, how easy it is to apply/remove etc etc etc).
Martijn - the above reaction was silly of me - apologies. But that is washing your car (well I might add "thumbsup"). Not detailing. And on that note, does not require a detailer.
JP - son, I know you're a good lad from the chats we've had over the months/years about detailing. Can I suggest that you and Sargara have a chat, see what he wants to spend, where he wants to shop (Halfords for ease, or I4D for more specialised products) and take it from there.
***disclaimer*** all above said in a normal tone, not argumentative, not derogatory etc
