New Car Purchase.......TVR

  FN2 Type R +MK6 Golf
Now that they went bust does anyone still do the red rose conversion for these in a private sense.

I remember the Tuscan and cerbera making 420bhp with the work done.

Lovely! Very jealous. I was talking to @Waitey about his at the weekend!
If memory serves you and Carl are brothers? I can't remember which of you had the replica 172 in Nautical blue, same as mine? We chatted a long time ago...?!

Yep St8six do red rose conversions, Tvr Power will as well, Power also do a 4.3 and a 4.5 Rebuild so these plenty of options if it needs one eventually, I'm only 20 minutes form TVR power so using them for servicing and what not currently.

Yep Me and carl are brothers, Carl had the 172 Rep then a iceberg 172 then he had a MK1 Focus RS and now a E92 M3.
I had a black 182 swell as a old range rover and now this, not to mention the PH1 bTrack car we built

Excellent, balls-out purchase.

Interesting that such old school technology mixed with stunning looks is a recipe for increased value. Even more so with a car that is deemed to 'potentially' have huge bills.

On paper - people would be mad to go for something like this. Yet it's what the vast majority of us actually want. Assuming TVR was still a going concern - can you ever imagine them making a hybrid? Lol.

Had the Car nearly 3 weeks now,
Loving it never fails to put a smile on my face and others seem to get as much joy out of it as i do. Everyone wants to talk to you about it, hearing kids ask there dad what car that was is my highlight of it so far.
Done about 400 miles in it so far been to one TVR meet to find some info and meet a few people.

The first day was a true TVR day as i decided to pick the wife up from the station in it, so i stopped got out to help her, got back in and my seat belt was jammed spent a while wrestling with that.
Then driving back home got a AC warning on the dash all the fans came on full speed and hot, the cabin got real hot so we opened the window to cool down then the drivers window would not go all the way up again, joy.

Getting used to having petrol spray at me when i fill up and it seems to want fuel every time we go out in it, the radio is a bit hit and miss (not that you need it)

Also Took it to Costco on the way back from the TVR Meet not ideal car for costco, but for those that have not seen one of these in person this is how small they are in comparison to a golf.

So Had the Car a good six month now and I'm still not bored of it, its interesting all the time.

Shelsley Walsh hill climb
Went along to the first breakfast club meeting of the year, plenty of other TVRs there to look at swell as some really exotic cars swell as some classics

MODS and WORK

Since i bought the car there was 2 thinks that were letting it down for me,
This first being the carbon wrap that was on the rear quarters instead of the OBS band, i knew what it was hiding so removed it which resulted in

The OBS band was coming away making the car look cheap, so ordered up some new quater lights, had the windows removed to find out the new quarter lights would not fit.

So i made a call to Adrian at TVR central who told me to get the car to him and he could redo the old ones and make them look new and true to his word he did.

Whilst the car was at TVR Central i had the other annoyance fixed, the car had awful 6x9s fitted at some point in its life, so had them removed a bit of fibreglass done and some new carpet so i could have some 13cm rounds fitted i also had a alpine bluetooth heading fitted.

I then decided it was not loud enough so i had a listen to a few cars with the power exhaust/ Jp exhaust / decatted and all the possible combinations, i decided as a first go id try standard exhaust with Decats, i liked the noise and the added benefit of lowering the cabin temperatures

TVRCC 50th Annivesary - MillBrook Proving Ground

Awesome event organised by TVRCC, loads of cars and we were able to drive the alpine track, high peed bowl and mile straight as much as we wanted. Having worked at millwork before and been around the alpine track as a passenger i was dead excited to drive it in my TVR but the mile straight was the most fun. Unfortunately did not get to much Gopro footage as batteries died and i managed to get the settings wrong.

MILE STRAIGHT -

I'm so jealous of that day at milbrook. Got driven around pretty much all of it in a mini bus by someone who knew the place well and that was fun (scary) enough. Imagine it was awesome fun in your TVR

It's the colour that does it for me...

I've always though they look like a Renault Sport Spider from the front too!
