Hello all

I've lurked on this forum for a while now as I planned to go for a Clio Sport as my next car. Well yesterday, I finally did it and bought a 53-reg Iceberg Silver 172 with 34k on the clock.

I pick it up later in the week, but for now I'm looking for guidance on the following that I've heard about:

- recommended (by you, not Renault) cambelt/aux belt change intervals

- likelihood of exhaust falling off / recommended stainless replacements

- recommended indie specialists in or around Leeds/W.Yorks

I'll do searches on the above, but would appreciate anyone pointing me in the direction of relevant threads while I get used to this place! ;)

cheers
Paul

Cheers all - really looking forward to it (I pick it up later this week).

Rudi - I paid just over £6k from an indie garage. In the end I didn't mind paying decent money for a very clean car, low miles and known history (it was previously sold and serviced by the same garage).

Gazeratti - yeah, i saw a thread on them earlier - looks like I've got lucky having RSTuning on the doorstep

Turner - I thought so too  Never had a silver car before as I always thought it was a bit bland, but I really like the Iceberg hue. Had a late leaning towards Flame Red I must admit but in the end Iceberg got the vote.

So it's busy round 'ere then!?! :)

I'll see. I haven't even got the car yet - Thurs. Might be a nice drive out if I take the back roads. Still not sure about the fancy dress though.... :clown:

So are the Yorkshire section a lively crowd? And apart from dress up :)eek: ), what else do you do?

the yorkshire lot are growin in numbers;) gettin a good turn out now! was only 2 of us for my 1st meet, with was less then a year a go! now get over ten cars and still growing

dont have to dress up if you dont want, just thought (well gem did) it would be a bit of fun diffrent!

the norm is meet up, get some food, go for a drive, some pics ect!

the North York Moors run this year was quite good:D mental roads:race:

planes for next year are RR and track days as well as normal meets ect! open to suggestions as well;)

b) High. Mine is a 53 and went at about 25k. Don't do what I did and get a replica. Worse thing I've ever done.

nice choice mate same as me but ive got an 03 plate, my exhaust fell off couple of months ago at just over 24k, was covered by warranty though because i bought it from a dealer.

  172 mk2 Iceberg
well done on getting the best colour !!

exhaust will fall off 30 to 40k so could be a good time to get it done..

It should break just before the final box...

Cheers for that. Seen the servicing thread, but I'm well aware that it's advisable to do the belts earlier than the manufacturer recommended....
"That’s the official lines. Personally I’d change the oil between every service......." And belts at?

I pick the car up tomorrow, so until then I don't know whether the aux belt has been done already (it's done 34k) or if it's due, or whether the exhaust has been replaced already or not. I've already checked out the Prospeed bulk buy thread from two years ago - they look like a great piece of kit - are there any threads that have an appraisal of the different options?

RSTuning on the doorstep looks like a slice of good fortune too!
