New steering wheel fitted

Following on from the refurbed steering wheel thread, here it is fitted with before and after pics. Notice the crappy melted plastic/leather at the bottom of the old wheel, urgh.

Camera ran out of battery but the wheel is now sporting a 5.99 steering wheel cover from Halfords as I don't want this one being marked to hell. It actually doesn't look too bad as well, not great obviously but willing to live with it to avoid this weel being wrecked, plus it really has made it feel chunkier/thicker to hold which feels quite good.

Much better.

Looks very clean an tidy. Should last longer then the Ren one!

Easy job, first disconnect the battery just in case anything upsets the airbag!

3 T20 torx screws hold all the plastic covering around the wheel on. Whip those out, take bottom and top plastic bits of the column cover off.

Then there are 2 T25 torx screws that hold the airbag on accessed from the back of the wheel, undo these (they don't actually come out, just unscrew them enough to get the bag off), then disconnect the connectors and you've got the airbag off.

Then it's a T50 torx screw holding the wheel on, whip this out then pull hard as hell and the wheel will come off smacking you in the chest as you do so :p I bought a T50 bit that's mounted in a socket from Halfords to get the bolt out, if that makes sense (like one of these but a T50 http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/productImage/ae978ca7-a604-4156-a111-b3e4efe3b5ba_300.jpg)

Then fitting is just the reverse :)

you have nice legs chris
