Newbie - ordering 182 Cup

I have to say that i do not understand why Renault brought out the 182 cup, as the 182 has cup suspension and spoiler up-grades. The best bits from the 172cup and the 172 with 9 bhp more. The 182 cup is 20kgs less (i think) - different between a big man and a small man. So buy a 182 with cup pack, then loose some weight and have best of both worlds once again. The 182 cup is very nasty in my opinion - it looks like a budget car due to the 182 havin everything already. The 172 cup offered a different experience to the 172, but the 182 cup just offers no leather, manual air con and a few other things taken off or down sized. It is like gettin the bus and sittin in the luggage rack at the front - you get off the bus a bit quicker as you are by the door, but is not as nice as sittin on a seat! (sorry)

172 ... 172 Cup ... 182 ... 182 + Cup pack ... 182 Cup

Why Renault? Its all too confusing!

Well I wont go any further into the debate. Ive done my research and Im happy with my choice.

Inferno 182 Cup on order - estimated delivery mid-january :D

  MINI JCW

enjoy it mate, its worth the wait, if you have bought it from a renault dealer you will do well to get it in mid jan, Mine took 11 weeks

yes, enjoy it. this is cliosport so it doesnt matter which model it is...as long as its a clio! ;)

Yeah UK dealer, but through drivethedeal.com

Sooo...just how many tissues will I need when I upgrdae from my 306XSi? That too has a pretty damn good chassis, and great steering, but is massively underpowered and too heavy @123bhp. Im expecting the Clio to give me wood

Yeah I know, so everyone keeps telling me, yet I failed to find a genuine UK 182Cup that wasnt imported, pre-reg, ex demo, or canecelled, for less cash from any reputable source ;)

Inferno, is there any other colour to get a Cup in!? :D

well lloydstsb carselect are doing them for £11,181 which would have saved you a grand! They are uk car and not pre-registered, sure i mentioned them earlier in the thread. Comes from a renault dealer too.

and personally i would have got racing blue but inferno is a close second for me!

sh*t happens, Im sure I could have got it cheaper if Id tried, although most of the cheapo deals I saw were for the blue Cups. Hey ho...Im not skint so not too bothered about the odd few hundred squids.

GeeUK, you know it! The Inferno Cup looks like it wants to take you to hell and back in 6 seconds!

Ive not been this excited since I got a Le Mans 24hr Scalextrix for Christmas about 20 years ago :D

Put it on hold and get an 05 plate on the 1st march....By the time you actually get your car you will be six weeks away from a new reg and your car will looka year old

ian

Nah, losing the company car, and selling the 306 to further fund the new car. I cant stall the company til March. Whats more, I dont personally care about it being an 05 plate. It will be an 05 car. Why not just keep waiting six months and never actually buy it? ;) A agree, its close timing, but in my case I dont have a choice, and frankly, even if I did, Id take delivery ASAP regardless.

FREE*g MUPPETS,

There is so little differenc between all 172/182 variants it is not to be believed. The only difference is the outright idiocy of the driver. If you gave all variances one driver then perhaps one, and I will state again will give a very slight performance difference.

BOYS get real most if not all of you will never never get any difference.

This is bull sh*t pub talk.

A proper driver ca drive a 1.6 anything and keep up with any RenaultSport. That means basically all of you. Why bother with 20KGS. Christ, thats more than the difference between the weight of drivers!!!!

GET A LIFE + REALISM

Mark

Hold on blaze, are you saying potential 182 buyers should buy a second hand 172 because you cant afford, or dont want a 182?

LOL keep taking the tablets mate ;)

But the suspension on a 182 is closer to that of the Cup racing car than the 172 Cups?

Agree the 172 Cup is a homo special!

The 172 Cup is NOT a homologation special. A homologation car is one that is sold as a road car purely to allow it to compete in a racing series (ie Clio Williams 1. Williams 2s and 3s are not homologation specials either as the Williams 1 production had already allowed Renault to enter a 2ltr car in the Rally Group of interest. For a car to be a holologation special a form has to be submitted to the FIA stating the cars specification, called a homologation form. The 172 Cup simply borrowed its name from the Cup racing series. The car was NOT produced to allow Renault into this series with this car)

Yeah if you read back you will see that I said in a previous post that it wasnt a homologation special.

But I agreed with someone else that it is a homo special!
