I remember reading about this in EVO, years back, but never watched the onboard footage. Driven by Nick Heidfeld, at BMW at the time.

Bear in mind it's running maximum ride height, hard tyres and a 275kph limiter, to reign him and the car in, and protect BMW, since it was a PR event. It's still awesome to see an F1 machine on there, IMO.

Imagine a 2010 finale at the Nordschleife. F*cking heroic. Sigh. :dapprove:

You could hear it for a good few minutes after it passed, apparently.

I constantly patter on about Le Mans it seems on here. But hearing that sort of thing all around you constantly, exactly like that!

Personally not thatt impressed by it on the ring, it's a bumpy b-road IMO. F1 cars aren't for that sort of thing, I'm much rather watch some GT cars battle off around there.

You know what I mean though, it's not a silk slither of wide road that F1 tracks mostly are.

Prob just as bumpy as Monaco etc really.

No doubt someone on here will have a story of when they spotted Heidfeld in the 2007 Sauber on , I dunno, the A141, held onto it all the way upto a straight bit, where their 172 Replica owned the beemer completely.

dab of oppo etc.

Glad BMW finally got out of Sauber though, what a waste of effort that was

I was out there for that lap, was interesting to see. The car would probably break if he did a full chat lap.

If it's not surfaced with high-friction marble, with 14-acres of run-off at each corner, most modern F1 cars will immedietly spit a conrod at the sight of it.
