over-eager abs on a ph2 172?

  172
so i've had the 172 for a month or so now but haven't really leaned on the breaks that much, but over the last couple of days i've noticed that the abs is very keen. in the dry it's annoying but in the wet it's a real hindrance. the brakes don't seem that wonderful start with, so this is making matters worse.

obviously i'll have to adjust braking technique slightly, but i just want to see if this was the sort of thing anyone else had experienced?

Just brought my 172 and although my ABS seems fine the brakes in general just seem pants.
I think my 1.2 felt more responsive under breaking.

So braided lines, uprated pads and discs are my next move.

Suprised no ones meantioned this, what tyres are on the car?

Mine had budgets on when i got it, and the abs would lock when i even looked at the brake pedal, now G/year F1's are on its alot better

Take the ABS fuse out lol, that'll get rid of the interruptions.

Just keep an eye on the rear end, in my experience they'll lock up before the fronts if you try this crazy trick.

has it had the brake fluid changed every 2 years like renault state in the service book? 100% thats your problem! no need for aftermarket stuff its the fluid due a change! mine were getting like that when i sold it, they used to be monsterous!

Its also worth checking the cv gaitor clio as when mine had this it was because the clip had come off and was blocking the sensor

Wot? Tyres?

So the 'premium' will grab too much when braking as ABS kicking in v. 'budget' no grip and the ABS won't kick in since you never lock up?

How will that work in actual traffic/real world?

Get it sorted mate!

Tackle it at the origin; the ABS ring, sensor / fuse.

no. russ is saying that budgets will lock up easier due to lower grip. better tyres will grip more and lock up later.

considering that the wheels are already locking easily, i'd say that uprating braking components is probably a waste of time, why do you need more braking power?
still check over the brakes, there could be some damage somewhere.

taking out the abs fuse is probably the worst thing to do- the car is locking up easily, yet you want to disconect the abs

i would start by checking for worn dampers, tyres and general suspension set up, alignment, etc. these are all cheap and easy to check and will probably show the cause.

my car seems to randomly brake by itself could this be the abs ring and am i right in saying its like a cog at the back of the disc.
