I had doubts too.
bit the bullet, bought the megs clay kit.. mine felt rough too tbh.. and this DID resolve the problem.
it took me 2 hours to do the whole car with the clay bar, but that includes a good hosing down, a wash, hose off, wash AGAIN, hose off, as I didn't want to be dragging anything naughty around the paintwork.
my most useful tip I could give is take your time, for me cleaning the car is a break from sitting on my ass and watching the tele and/or very theraputic, so not a problem for me. taking your time is important with all aspects of car cleaning IMO.
rich is right too, when you are done, it will look a bit rough, so get the srp/polish of our choice out and give it a good go over. I only did/do this by hand as I don't have a machine polisher, and mine came out lovely with a good buff up afterwards.
then I applied egp, left for an hour, removed, waited 24 hours and then wax.
she looked her best since I bought her after that.
using megs clay kit is easy. just spray the "quick detailer" as the lube, clean a certain area at a time, remould when neccessary and simply wipe off the lube as you go with the microfibre provided.
easy as pie.
it is good to see people taking pride in their motors.
why pay all the money cars cost to run/maintain/buy and have it look dull and poor..
