PAS noise mk2 ph2

my 2004 mk2 1.4 16v steering is making a really strange noise. if you turn it a little so there is some resistance there is a really strange scratching squeaky kinda noise. im under the impression the motor is on the left of the steering wheel just behind the dash, is it on its way out? and can it be replaced without replacing the rack?

Its an all in one system its an electric rack as well so replacment is all new.

Do the symptoms sound like its nackered? so can the motor not be replaced on its own?

Not that I know of from Renault they don't fail much.

You cna probably get replacments from other places and get them to rebuilt it.

I'c check your stearing arm on the hubs they might have worn.

its definitely from the motor itself. Like i say if i turn the wheels 1/4 of a turn and hold it still there are some wierd scratchy/electronic buzzing noises coming from it.
