PC desktop memory, help

My girlfriends desktop PC is running really slow, it is a few years old. I believe it has 128mb of memory on it.

Looking at adding some more but don't want to get the wrong type. On ebuyer I've noticed you can have DDR DDR2 etc, as I'm not that clued up on computers can anyone tell me how I can know what type of memory i.e. DDR is in the PC? Also what is reasonable to get?

Thanks

If you pull the memory out make sure the machine is off - obvious but you never know. Also it doesn't just pull out, push the plastic clips either end down all the way before pulling. It might be a tad warm as well.
