Pentagonal bolt size on rear calliper Clio 172 cup

  Clio 172 Cup
First post, so please bare with me.

This evening I attempted to change the rear discs (inc bearings) on my 172 cup. It didn't go well. After a trip to screwfix for a 30mm socket for the bolt securing the disc and bearing, I then came to remove the bolts on the caliper, only to find they are pentagonal in shape. I don't have any sockets this shape. Bugger.

can anyone tell me firstly where I can get hold of the correct socket? And what size do I need? I guess these bolts are measured as the distance from flat to opposite corner?

Many thanks,

John

Shouldn't have any pentagonal bolts you need to undo to do the discs and pads on the rear.

It's as simple as, undo 30mm nut, take pads out with the stupid little retaining pin and slider. Remove yoke, 2x 18mm bolts from memory.

Whack disc off.

Replace in reverse order. Worth noting that the spacer on the back of the disc must be refitted and not thrown away with the old discs, and that if you don't torque up the 30mm correctly, it'll need doing again soon. Think it's 175nm it needs to be from memory, but worth checking.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your time. They are definitely pentagonal bolts though, I counted the sides at least 5 times (in disbelief). I've ordered a socket, which will hopefully do the job. Simple job turning into bigger job = standard. Hope the engine mounts are more straightforward!

I've seen this quite a few times, mostly on remanufactured calipers.
You can buy the socket from sealey, it's not too expensive.
I have one in a set, if you are close to tunbridge wells in Kent, you could borrow it?

Ah, ignore me.... Just seen you've bought one.
