Personal Plate Stumble

  Punto/Clio GTT

easy people. recently found my 1.4 maxim sittin in the corner of my local salvage yard with a caved in rear quarter. asked the nice man how much n he said £500. had a look agen.. was mint, 38,000 miles, sports seats, really nice car... couple days later i kept lookin at my number plate R830 BOK n thought hey.... dont that look like reebok.... so i went onto nationalnumbers n had a quote done on my plate... £599!!! more than i paid for the car.. result or what!

FM

National numbers valued my plate at £1500 about 2 weeks after i bought it for £250 even though an almost identical one would stil be available from the dvla at £250-make of that what you will-it would be interesting to ask them what they would give you for it

I just did a search for A182 TOO, which I bought from DVLA for £250, they claim its worth £240! Mind you, that doesnt include assignment fees etc, so overall it costs £360 ish. Just wait till they catch on what it means! :D

That should have read A18 TOO btw. lol. Not A182 TOO. Bah. Silly keyboard etc.

Youll find they will value it favourably to try and get it on their books. The best way is to see if they will buy it off you now, and for how much. Otherwise it could take years to find a buyer!!

Your best bet is to do some marketing yourself - targeting websites / clubs that it may be of interest to. ie Reebok Trainers owners club........ LOL

youd be very lucky to sell that plate for anything over the transfer fee. Maybe if it was R3 BOK or R33 BOK but Reebok dont have an 8 in it ;) Plates have to be very special cos they are only worth what someone will pay for them. Ive been on the lookout for a plate for ages and whenever someone tries to sell one in the for sale forum they dont get anything like what they think its worth. Its all very subjective!
