Phase One. In HD.

My first attempt at video today. It's a lot tougher than all the cool vids Turkish posts make it look.

Thought I had plenty but it turned out it makes a very short video, doesn't help that I cut frames so it ended before the rest of the song kicked in

I need to find somewhere less windy, a stronger tripod, to sort of my shakey hands and an assistant so I can do drive-bys, y0.

Decent first attempt I'd say.

I'd love to have a go at this when I eventually get some equipment. I've got a few ideas I want to try :)

  Clio Mk2 Phase 1
Not bad for a first go, looking forward to seeing more. The clio is lovely also. Maybe pic up some tips from the guys on here too.

nice looking video and phase 1, love that song as well. although one thing i would say it looks like your headlights need correcting, god damn they are bad (unless its just the way the light hits them) car looks flawless other than that lol

It sure is harder than you might think, exposure lock on? as in the front on shot it looks to auto adjust :)

Nice, what camera are you using?

Got myself a new camera but I'm new to photography.

Nae bad that, and a decent song, I like the little bug on the bumper at the beggining.

Yeah, the lights definitely need sorting. On my to-do list.

I think it did as I tried to focus. Which I didn't realise until I got home. Lesson for next time.

Nikon D90. Had it ages just never tried the video stuff before.

Haha. I knew someone would spot him. I didn't realise until I got back.

Not bad at all. I was expecting it to be longer though lol. I take it this was done with your DSLR Dan?

Yeah, D90.

I sort of ran out of things to shoot. Done the back. Did the side. Did the front. Done interior. Lol. I thought I had plenty but when it comes to editing and cutting frames out, it ends up pretty short. Couldn't really do any motion as I didn't want to drive off and leave my camera.

Gotta start somewhere. Some woman thought I was a reeet weirdo when she came out to her car and I'm sat on the floor

Good first attempt IMO

Next you'll have to rig up/buy a steadycam and glidetrack to get some silky smooth pans and mobile shots.

With those and some editing etc you can easily stretch a couple of minutes of the same subject without it getting boring.

No bad for a first go! Copy my glide rail idea and buy a fluid tripod head, makes the world of difference.

I'll bring all my stuff to CSS so you can have a look at it.

Nice work Dan! At least you didn't look a mentalist pushing a retro skateboard along.

Did you try reversing the footage like we talked abooot? Need a video meet ;)

My favourite bit is the bug that crawls into the boot at 18 seconds, awesome.

Two things before you make another, refurb the wheels and sort the headlights.

If it's going to be standard, it needs to be mint.

P.s - nice first attempt :)

Do I just sand the headlights? Might just buy a spare set and do them at my leisure without worrying about slipping and sanding the wing!

Wheels are on my to-do list. Sept I think when I have my boss' car again, so it can sit on axle stands for a few days. I'm not even going to attempt doing them myself this time.

The headlights just take a very fine paper, maybe a few grades if they're bad, say 1200, 1500, 2000... then a polish up with a half decent polish.

I made mine look half decent with scratch x and a drill bit attachment, then some SRP.

I used my skateboard like a demon in my vid!

Reversing footage helps loads.

Going focused to loss and then reversing is by far the best method.

Never the less I didnt use it...

I need to get back into AfterEffects, iMovie is poor.

What tripod you using Revels?

It got a baggage hook?

Yup. Used the reverse method. I was quite proud I thought of that all by myself

I quite like iMovie but then I've not used anything else.

It's a cheapo one but it's fairly strong normally. Got a hook, so will have to use it. My problem is when I touch it to focus out, I nudge it. Ordered a new one last night with a better head. So more videoing will commence this week.

Not only do you have the best name on the forum, you've just won my 'best link that's helped me and my shaky hand syndrome' award for Monday. Congratulations.

Wasn't exactly smooth...

Was going to attempt to bodge together a gliderail this weekend but never got round to it. Need to rig up some kind of stedicam/fig-rig too!
