This cup is such an excellent car, only had it 2 days and done 506 miles in it. I was told on another post that the shaky gearstick is normal, so it hoping it is one of the good cars. If only renault realised if every cup was perfect they would have such a following.
I have been a passenger in a vx and it feels like a roller coaster its so clued to the ground. It has pinpoint accuracy. With the abs upgrade the guy did an emergency stop at 90 mph, blow me away. The sport exhaust on it also makes a huge difference.
My one seems to be afflicted by the problem of being very very susceptible to camber. I am always having to correct at high speed its so annoying because elises dont do it. In no review i have read of the vx has it mentioned such a susceptibility. Also on the bumpy roads of london it appears unuseable because of the crashing/banging suspension. If i can get my vx soughted thinking in my opinion i will have the 2 of the best cars in the real world, only my opinion though.
Running costs on the vx are low compared to the elise because its vauxhall parts and service. First service on an elise costs like 400 or something on a vx220 its 120. But the problem is there seems to be only one good vauxhall garage in the UK that will carry out work properly, all the others pretty much make the 3 year warranty redundant (is this the same for renault). Only expensive things seems to be the bridgestone tires which i dont particulary like, cost of the dealer changing brake pads. There is also so much warranty work required (so cost to me of time off work taking car to dealer) on the vx for example abs upgrade, centre console replacement, paint on vdo coming of, leaky roof requiring vxt roofseal, loose doors etc.
