Picked up my cup today

  Embarrassed to say

Picked up my clio cup today. Got an excellent deal 10,436 and excellent service from renault colindale.

The car feels like a magic carpet compared to my vx220. Handles and goes like a dream, cant believe it for so little money. Hoping I dont get any of the warranty issues so many have discussed on this board.

Not being able to go beyong 3000 rpm for the first 1000m is really going to screw me up though. Thinking about getting the running in period out of the way as soon as possible but not sure whether this may be detrimental to the car.

  Weeman sucks ****

Nice one mate, my friend has got a VX220 (very bright yellow) and I had a go in it the other. They are matched very similar, even he thinks that.

Lucky git... mine (Cup) arrives in four weeks (ish). Cant wait.

What insurance you paying? I got £640, which I didnt think was bad.

It was a weekend special offer - 20 percent off retail, the condition was I purchase the car within 3 days.

Will post pictures of it soon f***ing love it:), off to the palmersport thing in a few days and busy with work so next week problably.

I like both cars equally but the vx n/a makes any front wheel drive car feel like a bus in comparison. But the vx is more a weekend car and the cup is like a car I can use everyday.

Yeah my insurance was cheap is well. I am paying 160 quid more than what i was paying for my fiesta zetec that I part exchanged for the cup.

20% off! Surely if they can offer days like that, thats the amount they are willing to take? :devilish:

Congratulations anyway..

20 odd percent is friends and family as well.... there obviously is that amount of discount.

my mate has a vx220 and i havent driven it yet but it feels a lot quicket than the cup, hard to tell from passenger seat though as he thinks the cup is well rapid from pass seat. Never looked at much stats but vx will waste a cup to 60, 5.5 i think

This cup is such an excellent car, only had it 2 days and done 506 miles in it. I was told on another post that the shaky gearstick is normal, so it hoping it is one of the good cars. If only renault realised if every cup was perfect they would have such a following.

I have been a passenger in a vx and it feels like a roller coaster its so clued to the ground. It has pinpoint accuracy. With the abs upgrade the guy did an emergency stop at 90 mph, blow me away. The sport exhaust on it also makes a huge difference.

My one seems to be afflicted by the problem of being very very susceptible to camber. I am always having to correct at high speed its so annoying because elises dont do it. In no review i have read of the vx has it mentioned such a susceptibility. Also on the bumpy roads of london it appears unuseable because of the crashing/banging suspension. If i can get my vx soughted thinking in my opinion i will have the 2 of the best cars in the real world, only my opinion though.

Running costs on the vx are low compared to the elise because its vauxhall parts and service. First service on an elise costs like 400 or something on a vx220 its 120. But the problem is there seems to be only one good vauxhall garage in the UK that will carry out work properly, all the others pretty much make the 3 year warranty redundant (is this the same for renault). Only expensive things seems to be the bridgestone tires which i dont particulary like, cost of the dealer changing brake pads. There is also so much warranty work required (so cost to me of time off work taking car to dealer) on the vx for example abs upgrade, centre console replacement, paint on vdo coming of, leaky roof requiring vxt roofseal, loose doors etc.

Friends and Family is currently set at 22% for all Clio models. Which for the 172 the price is £11428 :D

Ps. Its not 22% off £14600, its 22% off the car without registration fees then - Vat. Then you add the Vat back on then add the registration fee on too.
