Pink Corsa C

So, with the ever-growing list of people wanting their car done by Harpham BWAB (Come at me JD), I thought id kick the year off with a faded pink Corsa C. (The girlfriends mum's car)

Process was as you'd expect. I did try out a lot of the products out that I ordered last week. I took a massive breath of Iron-X, forgetting about what I was using. f**k me. I couldn't smell/taste anything else for a good couple of hours. Awesome product though!!

For a 1 day, quick detail, the results we're really good and got a very good level of correction.

Also, to add, as well as doing the paintwork, I treated the plastics (very faded) and windows. Wheels we're terrible though.

I didn't take loads of photos, as it was raining (during my wash/clay/sniffing stages) and i've had some work to sort this evening, but ill let the photos do the talking...

Girlfriend's mum was very happy with the car. "Hasn't looked this good since the day I picked it up, from new".

1 car down. 5 more to go... :)

Please do next doors corsa, it's an eye sore faded red , hate parking my car next to it lol. Good results there mate, keep up the good work :)

How long will the work last before it starts fading again?

If it's anything like mine - About a month.

Mine looked like the before pics. I gave it to some bloke who had it for a day and it came back looking pretty good (not as good as Harphams pics though). A month later it was pink again. Mind you, the ol' Corsa never got much TLC. I think I washed it once in all the time I had it.

what is iron-x and how do i use it/get it from cheers

Buy it from CYC/i4D/other online outlets.. wash the car, rinse it off, hold your breath (seriously), spray carefully on to bodywork/wheels, you don't need to drown it.. give it 5 mins, once your lips are blue from lack of breathing it's time to rub where you've sprayed gently with a microfibre, give it a couple more mins then PW it off.

Read the stickies in this section.. there's some new ones up recently.

Did it get any protection ?! It's the UV that nails the red in the paint. Decent wax/sealants should protect against UV...

Not sure. I'm guessing not. I wasn't that arsed. The car was a shed - I gave it to this guy (a lad really) as he was the son of a friend who was trying to start up his own business doing this line of work. I didn't mind him experimenting on the Corsa. I wouldn't let him anywhere near the Clio.

Good old vauxhall flame pink! Amazing how quickly it does that and yet they still keep painting cars in it.

Good work on the correction, looks like new now!

Thanks for the feedback guys. It was a very rewarding detail. It was by no means perfect, but it was great for a few hours work.

He's not joking when he says this. I forgot and took a massive breath when opening it. I couldn't smell/taste anything else for a good couple of hours. Worst smell ever!!

Great correction... All this talk of how bad iron-x is is really making me want to smell it lol!

Gonna have to buy some actually... Does it get rid of tar etc as well or just iron and brake dust? Ly is a magnet for tar :(

Take your morning dump in a tupperware box tomorrow.

Seal the lid up good and proper.

Leave it on a radiator or in the airing cupboard for a week or so.

Open it up. Take a whole deep full intake of breath.

I'd imagine it'd have the same effect.

Great job!

Reminds me of when I did my g/f's Mk1 Punto a few years ago...

Think the roof was the bit that started fading the quickest after that lol.

Awesome results. Done my Mams one, vauxhall paint is so nice to polish.

My old corsa b only started showing signs of fading once it was 10 years old, if you look after the paintwork by just making sure theres something on top of the paint to protect it'll stay looking good for years.

These are the sorts of transformations that would make 'normal' people want their car detailed.

There's so many dodgy faded red cars. You could probably make a fair wedge just putting some leaflets on just the red cars you see.

Christopher will be posting up a thread very similar in 3-5 years, I'm sure.

Change is so good, you'd think it was resprayed

great results? Which did you find the best combo for bringing the colour back up?
Cheers dude. I just used yellow 3M pads with Menzerna 106FA (I think). The paint was actually very good to correct. Didn't take too much tbh. I then topped that up with AF Rejuvenate and finished with some Zaino Z2 sealant.

Yup, definitely. There have been so many people that have said "why detail a standard 1l Corsa C", but with results like that, you can see why. They may be selling the car soon too, so it'll look good for any potential sale.
Oh and thanks for "my" new business idea ;).

3-5 years. That long?! :rasp:
Cheers Brian. I was very pleased with the results.
