Pop and bangs after cams fitted

I had 197 cams fitted to the 182 last august and since then it always pops and bangs above 3k with tapping the throttle and gear changes is this normal? Sounds good just hoping I'm not doing damage to the engine!

Efi mapped it, I've probably covered around 10k miles I just gathered it was normal with the cams? Also my cat is still fitted

Unsure it was already on when I bought the car, all I can say is it's very loud! No rear back boxes, just a cat and centre box fitted.

Ears are ringing after a long journey! Rather droning on the motorway! Sounds amazing on full throttle tho! Kind of makes up for it [emoji23]

Can't say that I'd live with that sound, but it's definitely different. I've never heard one sound like that before.

Mine has never popped or banged. Sometimes kind of splutters like it wants to pop so think it might a little if I put a decat on.

Mine with cams and ITB's used to pop it on the overrun after it was mapped last year. It started doing my head in so some more advance and fuel added low down sorted her out a treat.

EFI mapped it in, probably do it for all their customers. You can have it corrected, though

I really like my Ktec supersport. Decat and unsilenced centre, 2.25.

There was a miltek for sale on here, 200 ish. Might be an option?

What are pms systems like? I would need the exhaust modifying as I have a sleeve welded onto the end of the cat

Only ever had one on a phase 1, never heard one on a 182

The quality and fit no doubt will be spot on. Not cheap mind.

I have 197 cams in mine and there is no pops and bangs. Generally that is something that is mapped in or something is wrong with the timing.

BTW i have a PMS exhaust on mine and its lovely bit of kit, can't recommend it enough. It is quiet tho, just a bit louder then OEM.

That's not really pops and bangs, just a bit of crackle. And very nice it sounds too.
