Possible Power Steering Leak

  Clio 182
Hi guys,

I'm a 182 owner out in Saudi Arabia (working) and i've come across a puddle on the floor which at first looked like engine oil. I've recently had it in my local garage (they speak no english) and he sort of pointed to the power steering system. Had a look underneath and noticed a loose boot. I took a few photos. Can anyone point out where this may be coming from?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Most common place they leak from without it being an actual pipe, is the pressure sensor just above the oil filter on the front of the engine. If you can take the fuel rail guard off, you can easily see it. Take the plug out of the sensor, and see if the fluid pours out. Hopefully this will be the problem, as the sensor is only around £23.

I noticed that something was leaking on mine when I replaced a drive shaft, and it has run down onto the gear selector as you've pictured, and also run under the sump and into the under tray.

Hope this helps :)

Ah right, the black sludge is from when i first bought the car. The previous owner had a Peugeot oil filter fitted with no gasket which caused it to leak oil down the front. I bought a halfords one and changed the oil as soon as i got it home and it hasnt leaked since. At first i thought it may be an oil leak as it was very black underneath, but i examined the drips and it was the same as the power steering. When i checked the level it was just above the low line.
