power steering172 Cup 2003 uses oil ??

Hi all,

Last time i read of somebody noticing a "whining noise" when starting the car which gets less worse or dissapears when warm.

Since a couple of months this is also the case on my 2003 cup(64k), i've also noticed the fluidlevel for the powersteering has gone down a couple of centimeters.
The level has gone down over lets say half a year.

Is there something broken or is this normal ?

Usually the bottom pipe bursts but it sounds like the seals on the pump could be weeping oil or a pipe has a small hole in it.

can i just top up the fluid and see what happens or do things and fluid need to be exchanged ?

+ what are the costs of a new pump ?

Also check the PS sensor on the pipe at the front (under the fuel rail guard)

Mine started leaking quite a bit from there....expensive fix though, sensor which is about 3 inches long costs £60 from Renault

I've got one of those sensors at home sat in my toolbox cos I changed mine before changing the ps pump to see if it was at fault but it wasn't.
