PS3 to 2 TVs

Have a PS3 using the 3xRCA component video outputs (along with 2xRCA audio). I want to split this to two TVs and got some regular splitters for a few quid. Audio is fine and the closer TV is fine but the upstairs TV wont display picture. If I disconnect the downstairs TV from the splitters then upstairs is fine.

Do I need to be looking at some sort of active splitter or booster? I dont want to spend too much money on it any Ive seen have been expensive.

Anyone else done this ok?

can you not use hdmi?

as they are easy to get hold of

well for £80 you can get an auto switch for hdmi (3 in 1 out) a splitter (1 in 2out) and a 20m hdmi lead?

really just looking to split the component signal tbh. gives me full flexibility in what I watch and where without using buttons or remotes etc.

well the switch is automatic so displays the last thing switched on

but it does sound like you need a boosted splitter

yeah I might want ps3 upstairs, sky downstairs, ps3 to both, sky to both, etc etc so just having both sources to both tvs all the time and selecting the source on the tv is the handiest way.
