Quick Shift Question

My brother has just bought this weird looking piece of metal, saying that it can reduce the shift lenght by 60%, its fits inbetween the bottom of the gear stick and the linkage. i just think its a load of bo**ocks but then again i could be wrong. Is this thing any good??

lol fred that was bloody quick only posted that like 2 mins ago. I know ive never seen it before either. Gonna try fit it at some point just to see if it works.
