Race with Aprillia RS125

I had a race with one of these today, was suprised to win as i thought the Aprillias were quite quick?

Was not sure whether to go for it really as its not often i take the bait but i decided to this time!. The bike followed me round a roundabout 1st. Let the guy come to overtake me. i kept in 2nd gear as we hit the dualcarrigeway, he pulled out into the right lane to go for it and i booted it. Hit bout 90Mph and the Bike had given up.

I Was suprised to find him dissapearing in my rearview mirror! slowly but surely!

Anyone else had a similar run in with one of these?

p.s My car is a 93 16v Magnex Full System and IK.

I am pleased to see that the Aprilia rider did the sensible thing by not racing in this weather, especially if it was wet or icy. Dont forget that he has two wheels and you have four!! It might have been a different story had it been dry, warm and sunny!

What is a motorbike rider doing out in the cold? Must be a bit crackers!!

It was Dry and not Icy at all.

But ur right if i was on 2 wheels i might not be 2 daring at the mo!

The Dual carrigeway had a slight sweeping corner also so...

I still beat him tho! HeHe

a) ints not a motor bike its a scooter

B) if it had been a standing start he would of toasted u but you would of caught him



i think they top out at 100 mph ne way and at that speed on the skinney wheels they have i shud imagen u get a pretty beefy speed wobble

i think you might be confusing the 125 with the 250, it would have been a very different story against the 250.

Yeah the 125 is basically a scooter with a nicer looking body. They sound bloody annoying! (2 stroke, ahh!). Theyre not that quick off the line really, maybe from 0-30 he might have you but past then and hes screwed.

i think the 125s are about 7 seconds to 60, but the top speed is about 100. the 250 is about 3.5 to 60 with a top speed of 130

Dont under estimate the rs125. my mates brother has one and de-restricted they fly. He has had 115 out of his.

I raced him last summer, perfect summers day. He done me of the lights, but I reeled him in at about 50mph. rolling starts from second its when you hit the power in 3rd you pull away. But not a bad effort at all from a 125 although it is de-restricted and he is a very good, confident rider.

There are few people on here that could beat a well ridden de-restricted RS125 from a standing start up to 60mph. So there.

What I ment was i was level at 50mph, then just carried on pulling away, especially from 4k in 3rd. Not as much as youd think but enough to say it was a convincing beating. Round corners though he dont stand a chance.
