Just thought i'd give everyone an update on the progress. . . I've now got the nice shiny engine cover screws & sticker courtesy of a few kind members on here :D

Also i've bought a spare plenum and fuel rail guard but thats where I need you all!!!! PLEEEEEAAASSEEE ! :D

I've set on having the bottom half polished but I dont know what to do with the top part with the lettering.

Ideas so far are,

1) polished lettering with a dark colour background & then match that with the fuel rail guard
2) Polished all over even though half of it will be hidden under the cover.
3) Polished bottom half with the top half lettering polished and then just clean up and spray the background silver to keep it looking subtle.

Any other suggestions would be much appreciated as I'm taking it to start the polishing TOMORROW !

Thanks again for looking.

how about doing the guard black as it doesn't really need to get much attention. the inlet I'm thinking rb with white raised bits and where the strips go across the bottom carry it on.

a ps might help but i can't do that!

The Plenum & fuel rail guard have gone in for polishing today - decided on polished letting with a grain effect background to keep it OEM looking(ish ) and then polished bottom half.

For fuel guard i've gone for polished top with the bits in between having a grain effect to break it up a bit.

As soon as i have the parts back i'll update the thread with some pics

Looking forward to the pics mate! :)

Really like the stripes, i decided against them on my RB, so they would therefore look out of place on the engine bay cover! :( lol!

Just had the plenum and fuel guard back from polishing so just placed the cover on to get the effect before fitting it first.

I just went for the usual polished look but didnt want all the top polished as it would look to much so went for a rough effect around the lettering to make the polished lettering stand out - the same went for the grooved lines in the fuel guard.

Check the pics of how it looked with the standard plenum on and say whether you prefer it standard or polished. - even though i've had it done i still cant make up my mind whether to change them over yet :S

What does everyone think? honest opinions I can take it :D

Dunno what to make of it so far - part of me thinks it looks ok but the other part thinks the polished look just doesn't go too well with the RB cover n looks a bit too much n possibly verging on tacky.

Whats the opinions?

It looks crap im afraid.

Whats your paypal address and ill send you some money over to buy them off you. Ill dispose of the parts ummmm..into my car?

Looks ace! How much did this cost you to get done, and how long did it take? If you dont want, ill take first dibs to buy them off you. :)

They guy i took it to did it in just under a week n charged £75 to do both.

He used to do machine polishing for a living n now just does it from a workshop at the back of his house.

Quite fancy going to the french car show this year to see what everyone else has done to their 1*2's

haha if i change my mind i'll give you a shout :D

Love the look. Paint job looks sweet, just not sure about the rough that has been left around raised lettering. IMO it looks unfinished and a bit backyard. Sorry you asked for honest feedback.

Yeah went for a shiny(ish) / matt effect between the top around the lettering and the lettering itself as I didnt want all the top to be shiny polished like the bottom cause it kinda all blends into one when its like that.

Not sure if the lettering maybe needs some colour? was thinking possibly white or black?

Suggestions for the rest of the bay?

have a look at the last page on my progress thread dude just done my engine bay might give you sum ideas. i dont mind a felo rb owner copeing lol

if i did the black around the lettering on the tops half whats the best stuff to use and how to apply it?

High temp spray and just mask off the lettering?

Love it mate, if you ever want to sell it up, PM me first. :)

Definitely going to making some steps forward with my bay over the summer. Samco induction hose will be next.

White/Blue, Thats the question!

Considered this for yours?

  Clio 182 FF
I like that with the black around the lettering.

I guess i'd have to rub down the small area around and behind the lettering thats been left slightly raised before painting?

What would be the best paper to use to rub it down a little?

I've thought about the samco induction hose but not sure what blue colour ones they do or if it'll clash with the engine cover it its a different blue.

hill power still sell the polished mount covers?
If was me i would get some samcos, so oem stickers for the over, polished strut brace? an ITG sticker would look quality on the air box aswell perfect colour for your theme.

Good work so far though!
