Remove bottom of steering colomn

Hi people....

Have been trying to remove the bottom of the steering colomn. Have taken out the three screws underneath, and the small top bit comes off, but cant get the bottom bit off due to the stereo controls being in the way...i.e. cant pull down as its over that stalk. How do i get this bit off?

Done it a few times and cant remember it being a problem tbh, have you tried moving the wheel height, if its at its highest it may drop off. Sorry cant remember specific details but know it took all of 3 seconds!
