Renault ECU delete....

mini-valver

Reet, going to get rid of mine, along with the ABS and UCH. If I remove it all, remove the decoder ring, ABS pump etc etc how have others gone about speedo, indicators, wipers etc?

Box with a speedo drive and ph1 clocks?

Re-done the wiring to use simple circuits and realys for wipers/indicators?

Ran a tacho pulse to the OE clocks form my VEMS?

Gonna get the whole loom out tommorrow and start sourcing bits, any tips, swing em this way ;)

VEMS should have an output for tacho, i know laine's did over on clio16valver. the 172 ph1 clocks tacho input is just a single wire so thats easy. Same with coolant temp/coolant warning light/fuel level/fuel light, all single wires that can just be swapped...

Although, he had to use a 10k pullup (resistor to an ign live) to make it read properly, it would just read half otherwise (might just be the mk1 clocks that though). I had to run the resistor method from the 172 ecu to make my Mk1 clocks read correctly, but when I switched to 172 ph1 clocks it didnt need it, so I removed the resistor.

Speedo drive box and ph1 clocks will work with ease yep, thats what im running on mine now.

The rest of the wiring for the clocks is simple, im running the 172 clocks on a valver loom. All tell-tale lights and indicators etc are just either 12v or an earth, if you need the pin diagram/layout/description just let me know....

re-doing the wiring is nearly as easy as you think aye, just get relay/fuse holders and start from scratch IMO, cutting bits out of the loom and trying to change it usually takes longer as I found out!

Thats the plan, rip it all out an start again using a small fuse box from a donor car. Vems loom Ill just re-wrap as it looks like a giant twiglet.

Need to find some ph1 clocks now then and just go from there. I'll re-use my clock loom and just pin it out accordingly. Fire me over your schematics dude and Ill have a look at what to start from so I have a vague idea, knowing it will actually work after, lol.

Yeah, everything else is just simple compared to the UCH/Ph2 setup, all single wires as said, im in the middle of making another loom at the moment ready to go aftermarket in the next few weeks....so much easier than trying to mess around re-doing parts of the loom thats already there...

Il PM you the diagrams/pinouts in the morning when I get onto the PC. Better check your connectors for the clocks are the same as the ph1 connectors too, not sure if they are?!

I just wired it upto the pins that it said and surprisingly it all worked first time with no messing around lol

I can pull each cable out of the block and just re-do them, so that shouldn't be a massive issue.

My loom will be fairly identical to yours then I imagine, being as Im standalone already and only need to run clocks, lights, indicators and wipers, lol.
