will_r's RenaultSport Clio 182 Cup Inferno Orange

Car  Fiesta ZS/182 Cup
Hello cliosport! Been meaning to do a thread on this car for a while.

Just bear with the first few posts as this is copied from another forum I'm fairly active on.
My car at the time was a mk5 Fiesta Zetec-S, now the Fiesta was bought as a standard road and has been turned slowly by myself into a really good track/race car.
Brief spec;

- 1600 Ford Sigma on Jenvey ITB's
- ShawSpeed SS4's cams
- Omex 600 standalone ECU
- OMP 6-point professionally fitted cage
- Polycarbonate windows all round
- Fully stripped interior and de-tarred floor & roof
- Omex shift lights in place of OE dials
- Gaz suspension
- poly bushed all round
- full Milltek with de-cat
Etc. 177bhp & around 960kg with half a tank of fuel.

It's no longer road legal, so just a Trackday car. So, I needed a second car. & thus, here is what I bought!
Bought September 2013.

Thread begins;

With winter approaching I decided it would be silly/costly to try and run the Fiesta daily. So I began looking at RenaultSport Clio 172's. The insurance was good..in the end I went for this Inferno Orange 182 Cup.

It is one of 168 registered in Inferno Orange in this spec.
It's done 84k. Cambelt, de-phaser pulley and auxiliary belt were done in March this year.
Loads of receipts for bits & bobs.

Photos;

Interior is in fairly decent condition throughout..

Even got my brother to buy a mk5 (which by the way he absolutely adores!)

Here's where it got expensive. The car had had a small oil leak for a little while. So I thought it best to just get it sorted, gave Mick @ Diamond a call and it was booked in. However. Not at all a straight forward oil leak and belt change. Oh no!
Long story short he had the car for a few days and a lot of the engine was removed and de-greased and new parts fitted where old was either worn, broken, or just recommended by Mick. What a guy. Fantastic job.

The car upon collection drove better straight away and that is with no exaggeration at all. He said the timing had previously been out a little. So I guess that helped. Along with new plugs etc. all genuine Renault parts also. Brilliant.

So, that's where we're at.

Like I say, I haven't written down or photographed everything.
I have come a long way since buying this car. Mainly tidied up what was wrong. Now I'm getting time to enjoy it as it is. I still need to unlock and fit the RS Tuner map and the B&M Quickshift.

No doubt I will keep buying bits and bobs.
The front and rear bumpers could do with a respray.
I'd also like some Turini's, 2118's, or even Renault Turbines.

Feel free to post with ideas or views. Thanks.

Got my Xenon's in and fitted last Friday, before a weekend away in South Wales for a driving weekend with some good friends.

The bits I've done recently have really made it a better driving car. The springs are not too harsh at all but definitely stiffer and a little less comfortable than before.
Had a passenger ride in Liam's LY200 and I have to say I was completely sold on it! Brilliant! The engine really comes alive and it really held it's own on the twisties.

Maybe I've just found my next car!

Looking good mate, your exhaust is hanging down slightly to the left. A new mount or packing of the old one should should it, to get it sitting perfect

I know I have 2 new rear rubbers but they aren't very strong and don't seem to pull it straight

You know with your xenons did you have a loose wire to what i think is the headlight washers on the back of the lights???

No, all I had spare was I presume the plug in the car loom for the headlight height adjuster for the standard reflector headlight.
They're so, so much better than the reflectors that were in previously!
