Right, six days of work later and I've finally got the cylinder head off. Gasket had a massive crack in it, so I suppose in a way it's good to see that I haven't done all this for nothing. Took me and my dad about 7 hours to get one bolt out of the inlet manifold. Renault design at it's finest, although I'm sure I was probably doing it wrong somehow. This is roughly the position of the bolt, underneath the inlet pipes:
Now that the head is off this is what I'm greeted with. I could really do with some advice here, as I have no idea what they should look like. Do the bores/pistons etc look in ok condition, or are they knackered?:
There was a lot of water sat in the two middle bores, but it seems to have gone now. There is a lot of water sat just below the surface visible through the small holes though?
Going to send the head off to be skimmed, but not sure what I need to remove from it first if anyone could help on that one?
