Ribblehead/Buttertubs Meet 23/5/10

Hi guys, great meet and epic drive/road trip today.

Ime burnt to high heaven but well worth it.

I was up there yesterday! The road from Hawes to the Ribblehead Viaduct is nigh on perfect. It's fast, flowing, definitely my favourite road in the Dales. Can't beat the Buttertubs Pass for scenery though!

The small section of the buttertubs we did was amazing, i'm thinking we need to do a meet one day just doing the whole length of the buttertubs.......though i have to say it's a little daunting to drive on any road that needs catch ropes along it's length!!........especially when at one point you take off not having seen that hidden bump in the road

that very road was closed today due to a motorbike accident so we had to take a 2 hour (ish) detour through denton (i think it was called) what a nightmare that was!

They're necessary though! Must've been over that road 15 times now but it's still daunting peering over the edge. Can't even see the bottom of the valley when driving on the road which makes it even worse! It's such a good day out up there, only problem is the hundreds of insects that get splattered all over the front of the car!

A good route to do is Grassington - Kettlewell - Hawes - Buttertubs - back through Hawes - Ribblehead Viaduct. Amazing roads!

It was two bikers killed on Ribblehead yesturday, head on collision. Poor guys.

wouldnt mind but the ones that overtook us only overtook us cos we were stuck behind people doing some stupidly slow speeds like that berlingo camper van

was stuck behind a 3series bmw after we left you guys doing 30mph in a 60 zone! grrrrr

Got to feel sorry for the bikers, seen that happen way too often for my liking.....even if some of them (like yesterday) overtake coming up to blind bends.

I think you would have loved this one Toby, some of those roads were amazing, pretty quiet too most of them considering the weather.

Sorry guys but i have to say my standard suspension set up was lovely and comfy all the way :rasp:.........even if on some of those fast corners i nearly pissed myself thinking i was going to roll over and die horribly :dead:

I'm still gutted though that the pub we went to wasn't serving posh fish n' chips on sunday's.............still love to know what the posh bit was going to be!!!!
