Rica Chip Tuning Uk*

Hi all,

this is my second post, i have a post on the general forum about a polished manifold and inlet... check it out. Just thought id tell everyone about Rica Chip Tuning Uk website, they remap your engine to 190bhp and 220nm torque for about £350. This has been confirmed by email. every other company only seems to push around 180bhp? on the chip. but i actually belive them, so if like me your lookng for that sub 7.0 to 62mph this may be a nice place to start, they also quote 3-5mpg improvement.

thanks

Phill*

would be nice to see their car on power engineerings rolling road

either that or a before and after on their rolling road

190bhp is very optimistic from the 172 without changing to forced induction or throttle bodies, highest so far has been 184bhp (filter, exhaust, chip)

hi,

just thought id tell you. check their website out. also just to mention as iam a newbie to forums etc.. that panel filter (K&N) loses 1bhp and most exhausts typically slow the car down aswell. Even big bore. They sound nice (actually they sound crap IMO). I cannot belive that experience drivers/car nuts dont know this?? hehe all those boy racers with large exhausts slowing their car down and a k&n panel filter does make a subtle but very nice sound but can rob the engine of 1bhp. Dont forget the computer in the car is constantly adapting for changes in airflow for optimun efficiency.

Im sorry but a remap giving 190bhp and 220nm torque?????

I seriously doubt this one <shakes head>

So, web site please?

Think youve got that one wrong mate! Unless you live in essex where 7" zorsts on your 1.2 nova merit are the norm, almost all replacement zorsts give a decent gain. A panel filter will do likewise as its sealed from the heat a flows more air than std.... As for 190 froma simple remap then im sorry but thats totally wrong - think theyre a number out when typing that!

Aftermarket panel filters create less air flow resistance, but you have to understand the filteration quality of an aftermarket filter is never gonna be as good as standard.

Ive seen a mag test with about 7 aftermarket panel filtes and a standard oe one, the results where quite surprising, your best sticking with a oe filter (as long as it is changed regulary) power vs filteration

I might have to join you, we could get them chipped at the same time, 190bhp LMFAO!!!

IT must be true .... its on the net....oh please let it be true....say its true Roamer go on admit it youve taken the hard road when all you needed to do was fit a chip thats prob out of a spectrum 68.... this rates up there with the resistor for £3.99 and 20bhp extra...

sorry cynical as ever, prehaps ill buy one of their franchises :p

Well, theyre only down in bromsgrove, so I might have to pop down there and seen them ;) - anyone wanna bring a car down that they could chip??? cos they cant do my williams (sad gits) and I aint lettin them near the ecu on my 172 now...

Another interesting thing to note is that if you go to the RICA site (holland) at http://www.rica.nlwww.rica.nl, youll see that there is no mention of most of the petrol cars that are show on the chiptuning.co.uk site at all, in fact its mostly turbo diesels.....

Hmmmmmm

poor Phil* its only his 2nd post and he gets sl*gged for it, sorry Phil*, i must be more tolerant in the future (lol) keep on smiling and checking the back pages of max power for the next wild BHp increase claim....

im sure ive seen this advert in the back of EVO

Rica is based in Holland (wateringen) they use the same chip.

- Clio mk1 with K&N insert on dyno 169 Bhp and 198 Nm. 1/4 Mile in 14.9

- Clio Mk1 with K&N insert on dyno 176 Bhp and 211 Nm. 1/4 mile in 14.5

There is also NO rev. limiter change with this chip. The only thing you are there quicker. Most noticable gear is 3th. above 4000 there is a huge difference between standard.

But still 190 Bhp NO WAY !!

Roamer next week I see my friend from Huger in France I will ask him what kind of Tbs we use.

Cheerzzzz.

p.s. dont touch my kneecaps !!!

Hmmmmm, highly suspicious!!!!!!! Gotta ask, if this chip really did work and pump power up to 190bhp while reducing fuel economy, why didnt Reno just ship 172s with it and call it 190 to win the BHP wars with Pug!

nah the chip is out of the spectrum zx2
worth while upgrade from that of the renault!!:)

jesus!, is my 1.2 really only 58bhp!!

Alright people.

About 6months ago I took a trip to rica to have my 1.2 16v chipped. I phone them up to book my car in and also confirm they could do my car and could i have a before and after dyno which the reply was yes they can. So off i went 1 friday. Took 4 hours to get there thanks to the m6 only to find out that infact they couldnt chip my clio. Laptop plugged in but couldnt read the ecu. Bugger.

What a waste of a day.

hi...

oops didnt mean to annoy any one! you lot are serious about this stuff. So a quick question then.. who are the people to go for if Rica are talking out of their Ricas ? and what is a truthfull bhp gain on a 172.

Phill*

;)

less than 10bhp gain and more than often around 4bhp the torque is the crucial factor and thats what people are finding out when installing the RS chip, do a search for it as lots of info has been posted recently... as arule of thumb a sealed IK , zorst, and chip will get you into the 180s....if you want to get over the 200bhp mark do a search on Roamers TBs ....oh and start saving... cheers Mo
