Ripped Seat

  BMW X5

Hi there,

A while ago i posted that the side of my drivers seat had worn thru and the foam from the set was poking thru. I went to renault and they said this was usual wear and tear. (i thought nothing of it even though it was only an 02 reg! and sowed it up myself).

Now the STITCHING holding the cloth front to the pvc materisl has started to rip. I went to Renaulkt today and they said that interior trim is only garunteed for the 1st 12 months u buy the car????

Is this right? What should i do? I dont htink the seat will hold out much longer!

Dave

got a picture of the seat? isit along an edge or in the middle of the material? if its on the edge, strip the seat down, take the foam out, and stitch it properly from the inside, then put the foam back in. if its in the middle of the material, take it to an upholstery place and ask if they can re cover it.

seems strange its gone in a 02 plate though :S, high mileage?

Surely you could do Renault under Trades Description, goods have to be fit for the purpose they are intended, nobody expects a car or its seats to last only a year, so unless you have been using the seats for something other than sitting on, you would have a valid case.
