RS Tuner graph

Loaded the group n map on my ph1 today.

Really impressed with the difference. So much more driveable, you dont need to rev the nuts off it anymore to get it moving, however if you do theres now a big old shove up the top end of the rev range.

By no means am i claiming the numbers to be accurate, the point of the graph is to illustrate the change in standard map vs. grp. n.

Both runs were done in the same conditions on the same stretch of road.

Weight is probably slightly overestimated as i only weigh 70kg and i wasnt running with the spare in the boot.

If figures are to be believed before is 147bhp atw, after is 157bhp atw, making an atf figure somewhere in the region of 180ish. That seems high imo, however the car is running a cat back system, simota induction and matched inlets as well as the group n map.

first of all - nice graph and nice numbers :D

second - no way u will get that much power at the fly OR/and at the wheels with that map.
Probably different road conditions, wind, pressure, engine temp and a lot of other things.
But surely 3 or 4 horses have been released, and a much smoother drive.

and what's up with the torque figures lol?
Do u have the latest RS tuner software, version 1.7.7 ?

The road conditions were identical, the engine was well up to temp - live data indicating inlet temps at around 28degrees with collent temp at 85 on both occasions.

Both runs were done one day apart so pressures were identical.

Torque spike at the beggining is odd, not sure what is causing it, it occurs on a few of the runs i've done.

Using 1.7.7 software.

Im not claiming the results are by any means entirely accurate but the car feels entirely different and i can quite believe a fair few bhp has been freed by drawing togeather my previous mods with the map.

dont put yourself down dude 155whp sounds about right.

28 deg inlet temps??? awesome

what induction are you running? PTFE gaskets with the the matched inlets?

simota induction kit which are slated massively for heat issues.

I've had no isses with it, retained the original CAF feeds to it and all seems well.

No PTFE either.

Mind you it was 0 degrees on both of those runs which should help keep temps down!

Just loaded the data again and looked at it on the graph. Average inlet temp was much closer to 24degrees, only got to 30 when being stationary with a hot engine for some time.

Going from the graph temps are clearly inversely proportional to speeds.

At a steady 40mph they remain constant at 18 degrees.
After quite a lot of stop start they raise to 28.
when i pick up speed again they instantly come back down to 24.

i translate my first post - Good result :D

maybe a custom map could be even better, seeing u have an exhaust and a simota. For 50 euros u can't be wrong :)

yeah i'm guessing there's still pretty good airflow up and under the bonnet and over the rad.

i run a simota style setup and the car feels pretty damn good anyways, only really notice the heat when in traffic for a while, as you've said!

by the way there are 1.34 horses to a kilowatt

The spike is caused by an interrupted datastream from the ECU. All the 172/182 Siemens ECU's do that around 2k rpm. Just ignore it.
Graph looks good.

I would recomend a custom remap from fastchip with those mods. You will release quite a bit more power and torque lower down. It made a noticible difference on mine as the matched inlets were making it run a bit lean before the custom map.

oh and btw you seem to have more bhp @ wheels than me...

I got 116 kw last time (was with my gf in the car) .Not too good eh? :(

@Henk, got any 98RON map for the 197, that I can try with some super-unleaded fuel and see if i get better results?

Tom what made you put the Group N map on instead of the 98ron map, just due to the mods you have??

Good to know ^ thanks

Got mine a couple of days ago (thanks fastchip :approve:) can't wait to have a play with the PA.

Nice increase in both torque and bhp there

Would you say its worth putting the group N map with a cat back exhaust, or would say the same sort of spec that you have??

Id simply say try both.

I ran the 98ron cal file first, and noticed a slight inmprovement but nothing huge.

Yeserday i loaded the group n rst file and instantly realised it had had a serious effect on the car.

Try both, if your experience is anything like mine you should be able to clearly feel the difference.

The only difference i feel is that with either map wont the inlets make a difference!!!
Either way might bang the group N map on and see what thats like, may even wait to get some inlets first
