alright chris, is joe with the vx!
awesome thread its amazing how far that clio has come! although you do seem to be a bit of a girl with the wheels changing colour every week by the look of it
but i am glad you got rid of the stickers! hope you got discount on parts tho
The stickers were done as a laugh for the Nurburgring trip. I'm glad they have gone now too tbh lol
just out of interest got some questions for ya as i only looked at the pages i havent got 2 days dedicated to going through your 81 pages lol!!
what was the final weight of your clio?
I havnt had it weighed yet but i'm aiming for 800kg if its under 820kg (which is including the 38kg cage) then i'll be happy.
Did you notice much difference in weight between the metal bonnet with skin removed and the cf one? was having a chat with a chap at knockhill who ran a german spec'd supercharged m3. He was sayng that his bonnet with skin removed was the same weight as the cf one!
The metal bonnet weighs loads, i cut half the underskin out and it made it a bit lighter, i then cut all the second skin out and the bonnet was then useless as it was like paper and blew about even when the car was stationary lol. Bit of a mistake tbh, so when this cheap cf bonnet came up i bought it. Much stronger and now weights about 6kg which is still less than the paper metal bonnet.
also whats the battery like? i got an odyseey 680 but bit worried about whether its going to be man enough for the job on the vx or not. already downsized the alternator to a 100A one and running an extra charge cooler pump and ditched the mechanical enginewater pump for a electric one..... not sure if it will be happy with this or not... what do you think/experience?
I run a Varley Red Top 25, downsized alternator and still run a water pump off the engine. I did look into an electric pump but that will be next years task now. My battery has been fine and i now have it on trickle charge when its not being used. I've had the battery for ages and not had a problem with it when i had a full sterio, AC, xezon Lights, power steering etc. So i would have thought yours would be fine. TBH i dont actually know how much power a charge cooler uses (or what it actually is lol) I think you may just have to see how it goes when its up and running to see if the batter is up to scratch.
i take it those parda spec 2 semi slicks wherent as good as the 888s? ever thoguht about trying the v70a kumhos we talked about? the germans love them and tested against 888s/ao48s (on the vx though) and the kumhos came out on top although they dont have the lifespan as a 888!
Prada Spec 2's are SH*T. end of. Well i do love 888's but i'm now a real man and have Dunlop Slicks for when its dry. once the R888's and slicks have been killed i'm gona get a set of Wet race tyres, and another set of slicks if they are good. Have you ever thought of getting slicks for the VX? Might be worth trying the Kumhos on your new fat boy wheels and then you can judge for yourself if the wider kumhos are hugly better then the thinner 888 on your other wheels.
what suspension bushes/coilovers/arb are you running?
I'm running H&R coilovers upfront with AST solid suspension mounts, billstine rear dampers with H&R springs, Powerflex wishbone, ARB and dogbone bushes. I will eventually be getting a whiteline rear ARB as they apprently make the car much sharper on the turn in.
also did you get the 4pots you wanted? noticed you said you run cl pads, which ones rc5/6?
keep up the good work buddy, give me a shout if you need a hand
