Brentacre and Flux were the only one's who would touch me with a cage. Mine isn't even a proper one ffs, they all said its because if you have a cage its usually because your planning to need it!

why would you declare a cage? surely it's a good thing to have more protection?

My old insurance company actually said no cages lol

Most mods make your car safer when you think about it. (suspension, brakes, arb's, harness+cage)

This.

Some people must be crazy to drive around with cages, bucket seats etc. etc. and not have it declared... as good as driving around with no insurance!

Some people have been known to drive round in a stripped out ITB'd 182 track car for a few months without declaring it.

Yeah they came with the bolts, they are nice and light as their made out of alloy. Cheap ones are made out of steel and can still cost £50

Been following your thread for a while now and the car looks epic :approve:

I saw in the thread you mentioned about the tow straps, i've just got a TRS one for the front of mine, its only a short one, but was wondered how you fitted yours and if you had to cut the front lower grill to feed it through as the solid webbing near the fixing bracket won't flex enough to go through the hole in the front grill and is too long to have tucked behind and just have the flexible part of the strap poking out??

Any help would be great, cheers.

Thanks mate,

I've not fitted my tow strap yet but yes you will need to trim the grill for it go through. I also don't know what bolt you need as I've not looked into it' if you still have your standard tow eye the measure the thickness of the bolt and try find one on eBay. I've sold my tow eye :(

We drilled ours out and fitted a long bolt all the way through, used it like a sleeve.

I managed to do it in the end mate, luckily had a bolt large enough laying around at work, it's an M16 by about 50mm long like others on here have said, i cut it a bit longer and spaced it out with a few washers. And yeah, just cut the original tow eye hole into a thin rectangle just enough so i could poke it through :)

I've gotta do the back one while i'm in work today hopefully in time for Brands Hatch on Thursday :S, going to try and poke it between the plastic strip on the bumper as mine hasn't been removed like yours has

I attempted to fit my rear one today but couldn't manage to get the plastic strip off in the middle, prised all the bottom clips out but couldn't get to the top ones due to the polystyrene crash protection stuff behind the bumper so gonna have a go at it again tomo and see how far i get lol!

That's a really good idea though with the bracket so it sits straight, may have to redo my front one like this too so it sits behind the bumper properly instead of being kinked behind.
