Rusty beam

I've stripped off my beam and mounts to powdercoat but I'm wondering if it's too far gone, the threaded studs for the brakeline clips are corroded to thin barely usable spikes.

Is there a good solution to this or would I be best sourcing a better condition beam?

Dom, I was/am in a similar situations. I removed the clips today and mine are pretty much gone. That said when I started to remove the surface corrosion the beam looks to be salvageable I was thinking of drilling and tapping thw beam for brake line clips, possibly replacing the OEM clips with P-clips.

I would be trying to limit the hole size as much as possible. They are only hose guides. If you knew someone who was handy with a welder get them to replace the screws?

Only got a pic from before I stripped it down at the moment, it's quite pitted so I hope it wouldnt look a right mess powdercoated.

@RustyMojo drilling it and tapping might be an idea or I could tigerseal the clips onto what's left once powdercoated.

To get it blasted/coated what do I do about the central rubber bush on the arb?

Yours looks just the same condition as mine mate. I would think properly blasted it should turn out ‘OK’ all 3 powder coasters near me are open...however don’t seem to want to quote for the job, so I’m struggling to find somewhere that can actually blast it and coat. I don’t have the rubber bush on mine, I believe they do have a habit of falling off, can you even replace them? Are they needed?

How did your beam turn out after blasting and coating? Looking forward to getting mine back now. Ordered the whiteline bushes as well. How did you find fitting the In the end?

The beam came out well but the powder coat chipped on the inside face where the 4x stub axle nuts meet. Obviously cleaned up the other face where my spacers meet.

Whiteline bushes were a nice snug fit, just tapped home with a block of wood. I still think the Febi were oversized, no way were they going in!

I think I will order some 110mm m10 high tensile cap heads to replace the two longer bolts, that should lose the 15mm of unthreaded section.
