sold the rx7... was gutted but time had come!
anyway replaced it with a audi b6 s4, has a 4.2l V8... not massively powerful, but it shifts very well for the car size and weight!
at the moment the car is stock.
has the silver (actually cream) recaro interior, audi sat nav (rns-d) which isnt as good as the rns e but even thats not amazing lol... has nearly every option you could spec, rear electric blind, blinds in the rear doors, heated front and rear seats, heated washer jets and mirrors, 6 disk changer, arm rest, ski hatch with ski bag, fridge in glove box, full audi history, option wheels, folding heated mirrors, parking sensors front and rear... plus more i cant remember.
anyway my first thoughts... looking at the car outside, it looks similar to other a4's apart from the front grills, rear spoiler, 2 pipes and the chrome trim you cant really see much difference.
getting in the car its a really nice place to be, leg room in the back with my seat in its most comfortable place is minimal, but i can stretch right out and everything works and works perfectly, i spent some time cleaning the leather, it needs more work tbh but its nearly there seating position is perfect for me, steering wheel can some times feel too far away for the peddles but everything else is in its right place, i kind of wish the steering wheel was a multi function job but the option version is NASTY!
loads of storage space, the boot is HUGE loads of little places like under the front seats to stick stuff as well as both doors etc, the glove box is not great on space due to the fridge and the cd changer in there.
engine: with stock exhaust it has a nice quiet growl to it, people saying that it would cost loads to run, on a run the other day of 76 miles with sensible driving on motorway, around town with a couple of bursts i averaged 26mpg... this included a "lets see how fast it goes" stint at which i hit the speed limiter... if you drive it like a normal person in a normal manor you can get high 20's to low 30's in it! if you drive like you are on fire you can get low teens!
handling: its a big HEAVY car, its not going to go down twisty roads as quick as a rx7 however it holds its own! esp off and it will hold the back end out on it, its very predictable and controllable. turning circle is pretty crap, put your foot down and it just goes, no matter what gear you are in, 0-60 its not close to my rx7 pace, but 60-140 it feels ALOT quicker!
there is nothing i dont like, it doesnt have the same feeling through the steering wheel the rx7 did but it doesnt bother me, it cruises well, it picks up and f***s off when you want it too but you could also pick up your nan and take her for a drive and she would be happy and comfortable!
plans? i want an exhaust, just for the noise, i have looked at the milltek i wasnt massively impressed, its STUPIDLY priced (£700 ish for a cat back, 2-3k for a full system) yes there is alot of pipe from the engine but its not gold plated lol and the welds arent that amazing on them either! so im going to a specialist who will build one to my specs (semi tempted to get rid of cats and have a valve to quieten it but it will be a pain come mot... so will for now prob be cat back with new down pipes. it will also be chipped, by who im unsure, tbh i want a custom map done as most "chips" just have the throttle react quicker and a bit more timing... when fueling etc can be done but they dont tend to touch that for some random reason! on top of this im gonna stick the rs4 anti roll bars on it, massive cost of 65 quid lol!
im tempted to get the RNSE nav unit but its gonna wait as its not that amazing and there is no real fully working ipod connection kit that will let you control it from the head unit and display track info etc? however having the 2 mem cards would mean i wouldnt need ipod connection maybe just bluetooth for hands free... but thats at the bottom of my list for the moment.
couple of pics from today after i washed, polished with my das6 pro and then used prima amigo followed by petes 53.
and the interior, will take more tomorrow
oh i know i need to use some tyre black and some trim restore it started to rain so i gave up.
