Sad day for me, clio has come up with another issue.

well it is a sad day for me, after spending a large amount of cash fixing up the car, it has developed a cylinder / valve type noise.

thus the car will be up in the 'for sale' section soon, hoping it goes to a new owner with more enthusiasm than i.

i shall be sad to see it go, its a cracking little car and pulls like a train (when it works :rasp: )

bit bummed out about it tbh.

what have i fixed,. ok.

coil pack died.
exhaust fell of (was quite funny actually)
Head gasket went. that was a biggy!
Idle issues,
sticking throttle.
radio / cd player died.
radiator rusted out.
Air con radiator sprung a leak. (didn't really fix that,. just took it out :S )

it was mainly that the Head gasket went, and then other smaller things going wrong in the process like, siezed exhaust minifold bolts, and the aux belt tensioner giving up - its all just got a bit too much for me. :(

If i had spent that much money on it already then i would be keeping it!!! You have already done some MAJOR repairs

A broken Ph1 that you've taken the air con out of, is worth very very little.

600ish I'd say, considering you can get working ones for a grand.

You've fixed some big things, best off keeping it.

Have you taken it to a garage to diagnose the actual problem/cost to fix it?

not this time, i shall probably consult Mike at Rentec, he has looked after the car and done 70% of the work on it, i actually swaped him my DCi 80 for it :)

thats on top of what was already done to it just before i got it, such as:
new gearbox,
new piston rings to name two (done by rentech)

wow that sucks! all it would need is a new radiator, the pump etc is still there :(

Right mate here is my advice:

You will lose all of that money you spent on those major repairs if you try and sell it, it wont be worth much at all!

KEEP it and take it to Rentec and find out what the problem is. It could be as simple as a misfire problem due to faulty leads/plugs or something.

The car has had all that work done and imo its worth you putting the extra money in to get it to good running order. Clearly Rentec know the car so give it to them and get it fixed!

You would be MAD to sell it now.

I will be discussing with rentec, but i'm farily sure its an issue with an inlet value.

and i hear what your saying, but surly you have to draw the line somewhere at throwing money at it?

Yeah but think about it logically..

If you've got money to go and buy a Ph1. There's one that works fine for £1,000. How much cheaper has the one got to be that's got an undiagnosed problem and needs the air con fixing?

Do as quik says, get it at least checked out by RenTech. If you want to get rid of it once it's fixed, then do that but it's worth far more money in full working order.

yea i know your right.

I shall put it up anyway, as is. but obviously not going to part with it for £600. and i will look into getting it fixed, and will be checking the scrappy for air con radiator.

Best of luck with selling it mate but you wont get more than £750 for it as it is. Its just not worth it.

Get it checked out before making any decisions. If anything your better off repairing it and then selling it, atleast then its a working car! tbh in the last year you have poured money into it.... dont give up now!! :)

My cup has cost me over a grand in the last 6 weeks! and even i at one point thought blimey this is a bit expensive... truth is now its sitting pretty and good to go! better than buying something else which could be riddled with problems. by fixing yours you will know where you are with it.

I can buy a fully working, taxed and mot'd phase 1 for £750. (Genuine car, for sale on autotrader)

Yours has some sort of undiagnosed fault so in reality its worth about £500.
