sburrell's ph1 172 track project (maybe)

I thought AVO's were almost the same as AST money? Granted I've never really looked into them much!

Less hen 1k so for an extra 100 so quid you can get new coilovers an specify the spring rates you want. Alternatively support a local racer an buy Fraser's

It's been a while. I bought some things.

Anyone able to explain shock dyno graphs? Because I don't have a f**king clue what this means 😂

There's 2 sheets, both like that. I can't work out if that's for a front and a rear shock on each graph, or if it's only for one shock per graph showing softest/hardest damping settings. Even then, I still don't know how to read them lol!

Good purchases mate

Christ knows about the graph.....! Front just over 3/4 hard, rear up full and you'll have a blast around KNOCKHILL......

What spring weights did you go for ? I see 569lbs? Is that damper or spring weight ?

I had only good comments about the GHAs I had originally and those were road spec. Whilst the car felt flatter on the ASTs I couldn't fault the Gaz set up.... hoping the golds will be good as I have them on the new car!

Cheers mate, I'll give those settings a go on the 4th...if I'm ready in time!

The figures on the graph are damper rates. From what I can gather it's the compression and rebound figures for the softest and hardest settings on the dampers.

Spring rate wise I went for 450 front and 350 rear. Standard rates for the golds are 500/300 but I felt that was too soft on the rear for knockhill and 500lbs on the front would be pretty rough on the roads so tried to compromise. Will see how it pans out!

You taking your 200 up on the 4th? Sure I saw your name on the list.

No it's still in storage mate...... will be up to watch though...

I had 550 front, 650 rear for trophy.

And here we see a typical CS track car in its natural habitat. A garage. On axle stands...

Tucked in way up the back, out the way!

So yeah, that's it in its new resting place in the new unit for now. Much bigger than the last place I was in. Plenty room to get it stripped down and do everything I've wanted to do since reshelling it.

But that aside, I actually worked on it last night!

Holes drilled for PMS top mounts and strut brace and test fitted it all. Picked the mounts up for very cheap ages ago and just recently replaced the bearings and wanted to get the brace before fitting.

So now that's done, I've decided it's aaaaalllll coming back out over winter to freshen it all up and give the bay a quick dusting of paint.

I feel a new (fairly long) to do list coming up...

Or. You could just use it.
Don't be so sensible!

I can't be arsed getting it ready for the possibility of doing maybe one track day in it this year in truth. Not got a free weekend between now and October so by the time I actually got it sorted and MOT'd, there'll be barely any track days available!

May have impulse bought this yesterday...

Took it on as another little project to just clean up and have as a decent fun road car alongside the ph1. Has recaros, a very strong engine, and was cheap so couldn't say no! Will stick a thread up for it at some point.

Oh hai. It's been a while. I don't think this is the direction project threads are meant to go...

Think this is literally the furthest I've ever been from having a built car!

Painting soon, and hopefully make the engine look a little bit nicer than it currently does...
