Scraping/Grinding noise under braking

ok... well i lowered my car yesterday with the help of Biffons_Bridge (cars a 1.4rt), lowered it -60mm on front and finishing the torsion bar today.... Right, under braking i get a quite loud scraping/grinding noise, sounds like 2 things rubbing together, maybe a stone in the caliper or something stuck, it was like this before but has now got worse after lowering, we checked the pads over and they seemed ok... cant see what it might be tbh??

any help, its baffling me!

cheers, Sam

definately fronts, can hear it with windows down mate.... makes a horrid noise and you can feel in vibrate in the car, though pedals etc...

it even makes a slight rubbing noise when driving normally, just dont know what it might be!

- Giles - It aint lowered enough yet ;)

well, the guy who i had bought it off on here had it lowered before me, and i took the cap off as it is a closed torsion bar and saw plenty of grease on them!.... shouldnt be too bad, as he only took the springs off a few weeks before selling the car :)

nowp, more when just braking... i thought it may be rubbing, but checked and cant see anything... will check the calipers and remove them later to see what i find... :)

i think its sounds like un-evan wear on the pads..like 1 side is doing more than the other.....the points are there is no loss of braking atall and the pads have a good deal left on them..????:S:S

na...doesnt do it when ya turn...only when braking

yeah thats why i asked that too. but it has been known to start off with braking before developing into turn grinding. but as he says its got worse but doesnt do it.

it is odd, really cant understand what it might be... dont think it will be bearings, im still going with something being stuck or in there rubbing as that what it sounds like to me!

you will have to drive it later ad to see what you think

all sorted now, very very smooth braking, got some halfrauds discs and ferodo pads, sooo smooth all the noise has gone, thanks to biff for sorting it! :)

you should have seen the state of the pads, one was angled due to un even wear and also was braking in the actual metal back housing plate! no wonder it sounded w**k

lol...yep slight prob with un-evan wearing there sammo.
you need to get the brakes bled now mate

i had exactly the same problem when i lowered my car, i got like a grinding noise when braking and i thought maybe it was tyre noise, my disks looked a bit shagged and on closer inspection they were actually warped lol

**russell may have been driving his 1.2 a little bit too hard**

1 set of new disks and pads later (same combo as you sambo with halfrauds disks and ferodo pads) and braking is back to how the car was origionally :)
