I can fully believe this tbh, I find that diesels with good power/torque dont suffer as much bogging down from weight as would a n/a petrol would
Clio's arent really straight line racers, they aint bad, but they're more of a corners car
My mate has a vectra gsi 3.2 v6 wound down on coilovers, through the twisties the clio has it but in a straight line he can just say pull away.....pre de-cat, would probably be about even's now
Good work, as for the 'vectra will beat or keep up with a clio round a backroad' its all down to the driver with this one, if they have no idea how to drive then the clio is in the wrong hands against someone you who clearly know how to drive the vectra, if in the right hands, you will get beaten, but not by a great margin i expect, torque can pull you out of corners great
As for my next car, probably be a seat cupra tdi mapped to 200bhp, should catch a few people out with the black smoke screen
