ok, here are my race pics, camera died after a few laps so couldn't get any more but they aren't bad, especially the ones of Buttons car catching on fire!

Anyone else see the mini tornado that touched down? Oh and I think the GP2 race was the most exciting one.

Was it as boring as it came across on TV??

I'm one of F1 biggest supporters on here but todays race was the most boring I've seen in about 2 years and the crowd looked a 3rd of it's normal size.
 
it was a bit of a procession, only overtaking i know of really was schumacher jumping kimi during the pit stop. Seeing botton go off was eciting, car caught fire etc and really, it was a great atmosphere, especially as renault were winning and we were in the renault stand.

For me though, the GP2 race was really exciting, that Hamilton can drive!

Real highlight for me though was spending yesterday in the ferrari garage rubbing shoulders with Massa, Ross Brawn and Jean Todt etc, that was an awesome experience and a dream come true for me so made the whole weekend!!!!!!
 
I've found your other thread, sounds like you had a great day. Were Renault not upset that you ditched them for the Ferrari garage? :D
 
I was there - had a top day, was in the renault stand too!
the porsche gt cup was wicked - they sound gorgeous.
didnt think i would need ear plugs until the F1 started - what a sound - the whole grandstand vibrated each time a car went past.
Buttons car on fire was definately the highlight

Oh and yeah I saw the tornado as well - was at the back of the stand though so stayed dust free!

sure did, although my shoulder and arm really ache after two days of it, it is just tooooooo heavy, worth all the effort though for the shots i managed to get.

When i was told i was going in the pits i thought it would just be in the paddock or something, had no idea of the access i would get.

Re: being with Renault and going in the ferrari garage, I still cheered Renault on to win, not really a ferrari fan but they are one of the best outfits and I would never turn down the offer i had. When i went in though i was told to remove my renault cap though lol, wouldn't look good in pics etc.
 
Nice pics - love the ones of button escaping for the burning honda! Oh well, maybe next year for the brit? :D

wow, great pics mate, love the garage ones, seems like you got a good look at the cars too, when i was in the ferrari garage they were running the cars and coming in and out of the pits practicing and doing practice pit stop etc so i had to keep out of the way alot through dear of being knocked down as it was so busy and those cars were going so fast and coming very close to me, you had to be so quick to get shots in as the worlds press were getting in my way.

Didn't get a chance to wander around the paddock as all my time was spent in the garage, amazing time though so i bet you enjoyed it as much as me.

What lens were you using for all those shots? Was a shame that damn fence got in the way when in the stand, i had the roof supports in my way to dodge!

p.s. was that murray walker in the honda shirt? And who was the FIA dude, there were loads of them walking round the pits yesterday and i knew i recognised them but had no idea who they were positions wise.

Not much chance of gettin run over this morning, the cars were in the "perc ferme" conditions with the scrutenears watching so we had to be careful where we were treading as they had nose's, engine covers etc off the cars, so if anything got damaged, under the rules the car would have to start in that condition, so we were very careful.
Also couldnt go over the red line into the garage either.

Yep it was Murray in the Honda shirt, I think he's been doing some media work with the team recently and the FIA official was Charlie Whiting ( Race Director ) the guy that starts the lights and calls safety cars etc.

As for the lens, I was using a 18-200mm that I got a few weeks ago, with the aim of allowing me to take normal distance shots, like those with me posing in the garage and to also give me abit of distance, with the aim of allowing me to reduce the amount of times I had to change lenses from a short distance to long.
Seems to have worked quite well, my favourite in of the Merc badge on the nose which is now on my desktop.
It was a pitty about the fence and the posts. It was confusing the focusing of the lens too when trying to shoot through it, as can be seen from the drivers parade.

I really enjoyed the day but your right! i wouldnt pay with my own money to go watch the race when the coverage is better on the tv! Was an experience which you have to do once in ya life though!
 
you cant keep track of whos winning or overtaking or just generally going for it when you are there - I agree TV is a much better way of watching it - seemed to go really quickly but well worth going - in fact it was worth going just for the Renault Pit stop in the morning to collect tickets - thought that was really well done and bought loads of goodies quite cheap

Obviously you see more on tv, but you can't beat the atmosphere and that noise! What a great day.
 
great day!! Brilliant atmosphere and was impressed with the renault hospitality! Great pics there, I was sitting right at the top at the back so recognised a few faces on those pics!

excellent pics there ,mine look absolute s*** compaired to yours,oh and the traffic coming out of the place ,glad i took the bike...... (nice one alonso) button for renault next year or am i dreaming?
